The TSURUMI HS2.4S 110V is the single-phase 110V 50Hz version of Tsurumi's HS-series portable dewatering pump (officially classed by Tsurumi Hong Kong under Submersible Pumps > Portable Dewatering Pumps). It has a 50 mm discharge and a 0.4 kW single-phase capacitor-run motor, and weighs about 11.3 kg without cable, making it easy to carry and set up. It is intended for 110V site supplies fed from an isolating transformer, for excavation dewatering, temporary drainage and emergency flood pumping.
This is the manual version with no float switch, so it is started and stopped by an external switch or control box. The manufacturer's model code is HS2.4S; "110V" identifies the supply version only and is not part of Tsurumi's model code.
Selection note: the HS-family pumps look alike but suit different jobs. For automatic start/stop by water level, choose the HSZ2.4S 110V automatic model. For settled sand, mud or slurry, choose the HSD2.55S slurry pump with its high-chrome impeller. To pump floor water down to about 1 mm, choose the HSR2.4S residue dewatering pump. Where ordinary single-phase mains (not a 110V site supply) is used, choose the standard HS2.4S (voltage as per nameplate). The HS2.4S is a dewatering pump, not a sewage pump, and is not suited to sewage containing fibres or large solids.
Key features
- Abrasion-resistant wear parts: Tsurumi states this gives durability equivalent to its three-phase drainage pumps.
- Side discharge with spiral casing: the external side discharge outlet and spiral pump casing let solids pass through smoothly, reducing clogging.
- Semi-vortex impeller with agitator: a urethane rubber semi-vortex impeller plus a shaft-mounted sintered-alloy agitator, which prevents the air lock common on vortex-type pumps.
- Dual inside mechanical seals: silicon carbide (SiC) faces running in an oil chamber, with Tsurumi's Oil Lifter keeping the seal faces lubricated and cooled down to one third of the normal oil level.
- Built-in miniature thermal protector (MTP): detects excess heat and protects the motor against overheating and dry running.
- Anti-wicking cable entry: stops water creeping into the motor by capillary action if the cable sheath is damaged or the cable end is submerged, and prevents condensation inside the motor housing. A cable clip protects against tugging.
- Resin stand: prevents scratching of the floor.
- Continuous-duty motor: dry-type induction motor, 2-pole, insulation class E, capacitor run.

Not suitable for seawater, corrosive or flammable liquids, hot liquids, sewage or dense slurry.
Performance
The 12 m maximum head is the head at near-zero flow, and the 200 L/min (about 12 m³/h) maximum capacity is the end point of the performance curve. The two do not occur together: actual flow falls as total head (static head plus hose friction loss) rises. Select the pump from the performance curve using your site's total head. Optional accessories
- 50 mm (2-inch) discharge hose and hose clamp to suit the standard hose coupling.

- For automatic start/stop by water level, choose the HSZ2.4S 110V automatic model instead.
Safety and installation
- Connect only to a single-phase 110V 50 Hz supply (normally from a site isolating transformer). Never connect it to ordinary mains or any supply other than 110V.
- Electrical connection must be made by a registered electrical worker in line with local regulations, to an earthed supply. An earth-leakage (RCD) protected supply is recommended.
- Lift and lower the pump by its handle. Never lift it by the power cable. Protect the cable from damage, and replace or repair a damaged cable before use.
- Keep at least 90 mm of water for continuous running. The built-in MTP is a safeguard, not a reason to run the pump dry for long periods.
- Stand the pump on firm ground or a platform so it does not sink into silt.
- Do not use in flammable or explosive atmospheres, or with flammable or corrosive liquids. Stay within 0–40 °C liquid temperature, pH 5–9 and 20 m maximum submersion (Tsurumi Europe data).
- Always isolate the power before inspection or servicing.
Wear parts and routine checks
- Main wear parts: impeller, agitator and mechanical seals. With long running in sandy water, the impeller gradually wears and flow drops.
- Check and change the seal-chamber oil (turbine oil ISO VG32, 160 ml) periodically. The Oil Lifter only maintains lubrication down to one third of the normal oil level, so top up low oil promptly. If the oil is cloudy or contains water, have the shaft seals inspected promptly.
- Regularly check the cable sheath and cable entry for damage.
