Hard-Cem® is an integral hardening admixture used to enhance the abrasion resistance and erosion resistance of concrete.
It is added to the concrete mix during batching to improve the concrete's abrasion resistance and extend its wear life.
This method is superior to labor-intensive surface-applied hardeners, overcoming their limitations, and can be used to improve the durability of both air-entrained and non-air-entrained concrete. Because it is applied integrally, Hard-Cem can be used to harden horizontal, vertical, or inclined concrete and shotcrete surfaces. It enhances abrasion and erosion resistance and extends the concrete's wear life.
Hard-Cem can be used to enhance the abrasion and erosion resistance and extend the wear life of any ready-mix concrete, shotcrete, or precast concrete.

Hard-Cem is fully compatible with common admixtures and sealers. The dosage is 40 kg/m³ (66 lb/yd³),
requiring the replacement of approximately 30 kg/m³ (50 lb/yd³) of conventional sand from the original concrete mix design to maintain the original concrete performance.
Unopened bags may be added to wet concrete only if it is ensured that they will be thoroughly wetted, mixed, and dispersed within the concrete batch. Observe the concrete discharge to verify that the bags have completely broken down and no significant bag fragments remain in the concrete. If in doubt, test before use. When handling bagged product manually, it is recommended to wear a suitable dust mask, safety glasses, gloves, and coveralls.
For bulk use, the pneumatic unloading and handling of Hard-Cem is similar to Portland cement.
Adding Hard-Cem does not replace good concrete construction practices – particularly those related to mix design, placement, finishing, and curing. Concrete treated with Hard-Cem will have a slightly darker color than ordinary Portland cement concrete.
Read the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for this product. For professional use only. Avoid contact with skin or eyes. Avoid breathing dust. Wear a dust mask, long sleeves, safety glasses, and chemical-resistant gloves during application.
Hard-Cem is available in 20 kg (44 lb) bags that can be added directly to the mixer, 1,600 kg (3,527 lb) supersacks, and bulk pneumatic delivery.
When stored in a dry, enclosed area, unopened Hard-Cem material has a shelf life of 3 years.
