The TSURUMI 100C415 is a submersible cutter sewage pump from Tsurumi's C series (officially, Submersible Sewage Pump with Cutter Impeller). It has a 100 mm (4-inch) discharge and a 15 kW 4-pole three-phase motor. Its semi-open two-channel cutter impeller carries brazed sintered tungsten carbide alloy edges that work against a grooved, serrated ductile-iron suction cover, shredding fibrous matter and debris as it is drawn in to prevent clogging. It is designed for draining sewage and wastewater from buildings and kitchens, and for transferring sewage and wastewater in the treatment facilities of factories and commercial complexes.
Selection note: the 100C415 is a cutter pump, not a grinder pump or macerator, and not a slurry or sand pump; Tsurumi's grinder pumps are the separate MG series. It is non-automatic and has no built-in float switch, so level control needs a separate float switch and control panel. It is the only two-channel impeller model among Jaco's 100 mm C-series pumps (100C42.2 to 100C411 use single-channel impellers). It is not a CR model: the impeller is grey cast iron, not high-chromium cast iron. The 15 kW motor is star-delta started and must be run from an external star-delta starter panel.
Key features
- Two-channel cutter impeller: semi-open grey cast-iron impeller with brazed sintered tungsten carbide alloy edges on the vanes, working with the serrated suction cover to shred fibres. Tsurumi demonstrates the cutter on aluminium cans, plastic bottles, non-flushable wipes and nylon pantyhose.
- Anti-ragging suction cover: grooves on the front of the ductile-iron suction cover catch fibrous matter, which the carbide edges and saw teeth then cut, preventing clogging by fibres.
- Double inside mechanical seals: silicon carbide (SiC) faces on both the upper and lower seals, running in an oil chamber. Tsurumi rates SiC as five times more resistant to corrosion, wear and heat than tungsten carbide.
- Oil Lifter (Tsurumi patented design): keeps the seal faces lubricated and cooled even when the oil drops to one third of the normal level.
- Anti-wicking cable entry: stops water creeping along the cable cores by capillary action if the sheath is damaged or the cable end is submerged, and keeps moist air and condensation out of the motor.
- Miniature thermal protectors (MTP): embedded in each winding. On overheating, such as from dry-running, the contacts open and the control panel cuts the power.
- Continuous-duty motor: dry-type induction motor, IP68, class F insulation, with permanently lubricated, double-shielded deep-groove C3 ball bearings.

Performance
A pump's maximum head is the head at zero flow, and its maximum capacity is the end point of the performance curve. The two never occur together: actual flow falls as total head (static head plus pipe friction loss) rises. Tsurumi does not publish tabulated maximum head and capacity figures for the 100C415, so select it from the Tsurumi C-series performance curve and check the duty point against your site's total head. Optional accessories
- Guide rail fitting TOS3-100-100: the pump is lowered onto and lifted off the duckfoot bend along guide rails, so it can be serviced without entering the sump. The set includes the duckfoot bend, guide support (with bolts and nuts), guide hook, 5 m lifting chain (with shackles) and a threaded JIS 10 kg/cm² flange. Guide pipes are not supplied.
- Free-standing installation: discharge bend BEND 100-100F and STAND SET 6A2. Tsurumi's specification sheets state this model ships without the discharge bend and stand; please confirm the supply scope when ordering.
- Star-delta starter panel: must also accept the MTP protector leads (1 × 2 × 1.25 mm²).
- Float switches: MC-2 (heavy-duty with shock absorber, NO or NC contact) or MT-1 (economy teardrop type, SPDT, for filling or emptying), connected through the control panel.
- External electrode-type leakage sensor
- Factory options on request: seawater-resistant version (galvanic anode and special impeller), high-temperature version up to 80 °C, special materials (stainless steel, high-chromium cast iron or bronze, including a high-chromium impeller and suction cover) and a dry pit version (D prefix).
Safety and installation
- Three-phase power and control panel wiring must be carried out by a registered electrical worker. Earth the pump properly and provide overload and earth-leakage protection.
- The miniature thermal protectors (MTP) only open a signal circuit and must be wired to the control panel so it can cut the power. If the MTP leads are left unconnected, the motor has no thermal protection.
- The sintered tungsten carbide edges and serrated suction cover are very sharp. Isolate and lock out the power and wear cut-resistant gloves before clearing debris.
- The pump weighs 221 kg dry (free-standing). Use suitable lifting gear and lift by the handle or lifting chain; never lift the pump by its power cable.
- Do not damage the cable sheath or submerge the cable end during installation; the anti-wicking entry is a safeguard only.
- The standard specification is for liquids at 0–40 °C and pH 5–9. It is not seawater-resistant and not explosion-proof: never pump flammable or explosive liquids, and avoid prolonged dry-running.
- Sewage sumps are confined spaces with possible hydrogen sulphide or oxygen deficiency. Follow Hong Kong confined-space regulations before entry.
Wear parts and routine checks
- Main wear parts: impeller (tungsten carbide edges), suction cover and mechanical seals. As the cutting edges wear, cutting performance and flow fall.
- Check the turbine oil in the oil chamber (ISO VG32, 5,500 ml) periodically as set out in the instruction manual. If the oil is cloudy or contains water, have the shaft seals inspected promptly.
- Regularly inspect the cable sheath for damage and check for fibrous debris building up between the impeller and suction cover.
