The TSURUMI 100C42.2-E1 is a submersible sewage pump from Tsurumi's C series of non-clogging cutter pumps. It has a 100 mm discharge and a 2.2 kW 4-pole three-phase motor. The semi-open single-channel impeller is grey cast iron with a brazed sintered tungsten carbide cutting edge, and it works against a serrated ductile-iron suction cover to shred fibres and solids as they enter the pump, so the pump does not clog. It is designed for draining sewage and wastewater from buildings and kitchens, and for transferring sewage and wastewater in the treatment facilities of factories and commercial complexes.
The "-E1" suffix does not appear in Tsurumi's official catalogue or on the official Hong Kong website, so the specifications on this page are those of the official base model, 100C42.2. C-series pumps are non-automatic and have no built-in float switch. For level-controlled start and stop, add a separate float switch and control panel.
Selection note: the 100C42.2-E1 is a cutter pump, not a grinder pump or a slurry pump. Its carbide edges shred fibrous material; it is not intended for construction slurry or dense sand-laden water. Tsurumi's grinder pumps are the separate MG series. This is also not a "CR" model: CR models have a high-chromium cast-iron impeller and suction cover for greater wear resistance. If your sewage carries a lot of abrasive solids, consider a CR model such as the 80C22.2-CR.
Key features
- Tungsten carbide cutter impeller: grooves on the front of the suction cover catch fibrous matter, which the sintered carbide edges and the cover's saw teeth then shred, preventing fibres from wrapping and clogging. In Tsurumi's own demonstrations, the C series cuts aluminium cans, plastic bottles, non-flushable wipes and nylon pantyhose.
- Large solids passage: 67 × 56 mm at 50 Hz.
- Dual inside mechanical seals: running in an oil chamber, with ceramic + carbon upper faces and silicon carbide + silicon carbide lower faces.
- Oil Lifter (Tsurumi patented design): keeps the seal faces lubricated and cooled even when the oil drops to about one-third of the normal level.
- Built-in circle thermal protector (CTP): cuts the motor circuit directly on overheating or overcurrent.
- Anti-wicking cable entry: stops water creeping along the cable cores into the motor by capillary action if the sheath is damaged or the cable end is submerged, and keeps moist air and condensation out of the motor.
- Continuous-duty dry-type induction motor: IP68, class F insulation, with permanently lubricated, double-shielded C3 deep-groove ball bearings.
- Guide rail fitting available: the guide-rail version is the TOS100C42.2. The pump is lowered along the rails onto the duckfoot bend, so it can be serviced without entering the sump.

Performance
The 13.5 m maximum head is the head at zero flow, and the 1,100 L/min (66 m³/h) maximum capacity is the end point of the performance curve (both at 50 Hz). The two do not occur together: actual flow falls as total head (static head plus pipe friction loss) rises. Select the pump from the performance curve using your site's total head. For more flow or head, consider the 100C43.7-E1 (17.1 m, 2,000 L/min).

Optional accessories
- Guide rail fitting TOS3-80-100: for the 100C42.2. The set includes the duckfoot bend, guide support (with bolts and nuts), guide hook, 5 m lifting chain (with shackles) and a threaded JIS 10kg/cm² flange. The guide pipe is not included.
- Discharge bend BEND 80-100F: for free-standing installation. Tsurumi's product guide states that 0.75–5.5 kW models are supplied without a discharge bend; confirm the supply scope with the Hong Kong agent.
- Float switches: MC-2 (heavy-duty, with shock absorber, NO or NC contact) or MT-1 (economy teardrop type, SPDT, for filling or emptying). Three-phase pumps must be connected through a control panel.
- External electrode leakage sensor: optional; this model has no built-in leakage sensor.
- Factory options (special order): high-chromium cast-iron impeller and suction cover, seawater-resistant version (galvanic anode and special impeller), and high-temperature version (liquids up to 80 °C).
Safety and installation
- Three-phase connection and control-panel wiring must be carried out by a registered electrical worker. Earth the pump properly and provide overload and earth-leakage protection.
- The built-in CTP resets automatically, so the motor restarts by itself once it cools after a trip. Always isolate and lock out the power before touching the pump or clearing the impeller.
- The impeller carries sharp tungsten carbide edges and the suction cover is serrated. Wear cut-resistant gloves when clearing debris.
- The pump weighs about 68 kg dry. Use suitable lifting gear with the lifting chain or handle, and never lift or lower the pump by its power cable.
- Do not damage the cable sheath or let the cable end become submerged during installation. The anti-wicking entry is a safeguard, not a substitute for correct installation.
- Avoid prolonged dry running. Do not pump flammable or explosive liquids; this is not an explosion-proof pump. The standard model is not seawater-resistant, and the liquid must stay within 0–40 °C and pH 5–9.
- Sewage sumps are confined spaces with a possible risk of hydrogen sulphide or low oxygen. Follow Hong Kong confined-space regulations before entry. A guide rail fitting lets you service the pump without entering the sump.
Wear parts and routine checks
- Main wear parts: impeller (carbide cutting edge), suction cover, mechanical seals and oil seal.
- Check the turbine oil in the oil chamber (ISO VG32, 1,350 ml) periodically as set out in the instruction manual. If the oil is cloudy or contains water, have the mechanical seals inspected promptly.
- If flow drops noticeably or the pump keeps fouling, inspect the impeller edge and the suction cover teeth for wear.
