The TSURUMI 80C21.5 is a submersible sewage pump with cutter impeller from Tsurumi's C series, with an 80 mm (3-inch) discharge and a 1.5 kW 2-pole three-phase motor. Its semi-open single-channel cutter impeller carries a brazed sintered tungsten carbide alloy edge that works against a serrated suction cover, shredding fibrous and solid matter as it pumps to prevent clogging. It is designed for draining sewage and wastewater from buildings and kitchens, and for transferring sewage and wastewater in the water treatment facilities of factories and commercial complexes.
Selection note: in "80C21.5", the "21.5" means 2-pole, 1.5 kW. It is a completely different model from the 15 kW 80C215-CR, so check the decimal point when ordering. The 80C21.5 is not a "CR" model: its impeller is grey cast iron and its suction cover ductile cast iron, and its single-channel impeller passes solids up to 43 × 60 mm, making it a good fit for general sewage. For higher head and more wear-resistant high-chromium cast iron impeller and suction cover, choose the 80C22.2-CR or 80C23.7-CR. The C series is a cutter pump, not a grinder pump, and is not intended for construction slurry or sand transfer.
Key features
- Cutter impeller: brazed sintered tungsten carbide alloy edges on the vanes. Grooves on the front of the suction cover catch fibrous matter, which the carbide edge and saw teeth then shred. In Tsurumi's own demonstrations it cuts aluminium cans, plastic bottles, non-flushable wipes and nylon pantyhose.
- 43 × 60 mm solids passage (50 Hz): a large single-channel passage suited to sewage carrying solids and fibres.
- Dual inside mechanical seals: running in an oil chamber, with ceramic + carbon upper faces and silicon carbide + silicon carbide (SiC) lower faces.
- Oil Lifter (Tsurumi patented): keeps the seal faces lubricated and cooled even when the oil drops to about one third of the normal level.
- Built-in circle thermal protector (CTP): cuts the motor circuit directly on overheating or overcurrent.
- Anti-wicking cable entry: stops water creeping along the cores by capillary action if the sheath is damaged or the cable end is submerged, and keeps moist air and condensation out of the motor.
- Continuous-duty motor: dry-type induction motor, IP68, insulation class F.
- Guide rail ready: with a TOS guide rail fitting, the pump can be raised and lowered along the rails, so maintenance needs no entry into the sump.

Suitable liquids: sewage, wastewater and water carrying solid matter; liquid temperature 0–40 °C, pH 5–9. The standard model is not seawater-resistant.
Performance
The 13.2 m maximum head is the head at near-zero flow, and the 810 L/min (about 48.6 m³/h) maximum capacity is the end point of the performance curve (50 Hz). The two do not occur together: actual flow falls as total head (static head plus pipe friction loss) rises. Select the pump from the performance curve using your site's total head. For higher heads, consider the 80C22.2-CR (21 m) or 80C23.7-CR (29 m).

Optional accessories
- Discharge bend BEND 80 (oval flange): the bend Tsurumi specifies for free-standing installation of the 80C21.5. Per Tsurumi's spec sheet, this model is supplied without a discharge bend, so please contact us to confirm the supply scope.
- Guide rail fitting TOS3-80-80: the guide rail set Tsurumi specifies for the 80C21.5. Tsurumi's TOS set includes a duckfoot bend, guide support (with bolts and nuts), guide hook, 5 m lifting chain (with shackles) and a threaded JIS 10kg/cm² flange; the guide pipe is not supplied.
- Float switches: MC-2 (heavy-duty with shock absorber, NO or NC contact) or MT-1 (economy type, SPDT, for filling or emptying). The C series is non-automatic, and three-phase pumps must be connected to float switches through a control panel.
- External electrode leakage sensor: optional; the 80C21.5 has no built-in leakage sensor.
- Factory options: high-chromium cast iron impeller and suction cover, seawater-resistant version (galvanic anode and special impeller), high-temperature version for liquids up to 80 °C, and dry pit (D) version, all made to order.
Safety and installation
- Three-phase connection and control panel wiring must be carried out by a registered electrical worker in line with local regulations. Earth the pump properly and provide overload and earth-leakage protection.
- The built-in thermal protector resets automatically, so the motor restarts by itself once it cools. Always isolate and lock out the power before inspecting the pump or clearing the impeller.
- The impeller has sharp tungsten carbide edges and the suction cover is serrated. Wear cut-resistant gloves when clearing debris.
- Never lift or lower the pump by its cable. Use the handle with a lifting chain and suitable lifting gear (dry weight about 36 kg).
- Do not damage the cable sheath or let the cable end get submerged during installation; the anti-wicking cable entry is a safeguard only.
- Avoid prolonged dry-running. Do not pump flammable or explosive liquids; this is not an explosion-proof pump.
- Sewage sumps are confined spaces that may contain hydrogen sulphide or low oxygen, so follow Hong Kong confined-space regulations. A guide rail fitting lets you raise and service the pump without entering the sump.
Wear parts and routine checks
- Main wear parts: impeller (tungsten carbide edge), suction cover, mechanical seals and oil seal.
- Check the turbine oil in the oil chamber (ISO VG32, 900 ml) regularly as set out in the instruction manual. If the oil is cloudy or contains water, have the shaft seals inspected promptly.
