The TSURUMI KTZ615 is a heavy-duty submersible dewatering pump from Tsurumi's flagship KTZ series (listed by Tsurumi under Submersible Pumps > Dewatering Pumps). It has a 150 mm (6-inch) discharge and a 15 kW three-phase, 2-pole motor. A cast iron body and a semi-open high-chromium cast iron impeller make it well suited to abrasive site water, and it passes solids up to 20 mm. It is built for high-volume drainage on construction sites, in aggregate quarries and in mines.

Selection note: the KTZ615 is a dewatering pump for muddy site water (up to 10% dry matter), not a slurry pump. It has no agitator and is not suitable for settled sludge or dense sand slurry; for that duty, choose the agitator-equipped KTD series, such as the KTD33.7. The KTZ415 uses the same 15 kW motor with a 100 mm discharge: it reaches a higher maximum head (55 m) but moves less water (up to 1,980 L/min). Choose the KTZ615 when volume is the priority and the KTZ415 when head is. The KTZ615 is a non-automatic model with no built-in level control, and it is not on Tsurumi's official model list for the Seawater-Resistant Kit. Key features

Top-discharge, side-flow design: keeps the motor cooled even when it runs exposed to air, and gives a slim body that fits confined spaces. For continuous running, keep the water level at or above 190 mm (W1).
Multi-directional hose coupling: the discharge can be set vertical or inclined, so the hose does not fold or kink.
High-chromium cast iron semi-open impeller: resists wear from abrasive particles. The shaft is quench-hardened where it contacts particles.
Dual inside mechanical seals: silicon carbide (SiC) faces sit in the oil chamber, isolated from abrasion and corrosion. Tsurumi states SiC offers about 5 times the corrosion, wear and heat resistance of tungsten carbide.
Oil Lifter (Tsurumi original): keeps the seal faces lubricated and cooled even when the oil drops to about one-third of the normal level.
Seal pressure relief ports and 304 stainless steel labyrinth ring: on 7.5–22 kW models, the relief ports mean the mechanical seals only see the submergence pressure, not the pumping pressure.
Built-in circle thermal protector (CTP): cuts the motor circuit directly on overheating or overcurrent.
Anti-wicking cable entry and cable clip: stops water creeping into the motor along the cable by capillary action if the sheath is damaged, while the clip protects the cable against pulling.

Applications

Construction sites: water and seepage removal from excavations, basements and tunnel works
Quarries and mines: pit dewatering (water only, not slurry transfer)
High-volume dewatering: clearing large volumes of standing water quickly through a 150 mm discharge hose

Performance

The 39.5 m maximum head is the head at near-zero flow, and the 2,800 L/min (about 168 m³/h) maximum capacity is the end point of the performance curve. The two do not occur together: actual flow falls as total head (static head plus hose friction loss) rises. Select the pump from the performance curve using your site's total head. These figures are Tsurumi Europe's 50 Hz data; the 60 Hz curve differs, so rely on the nameplate and the information supplied by the agent. For a higher head, consider the KTZ622 (55 m).

Safety and installation

The pump weighs about 147 kg dry. Use a crane or lifting frame with a chain or shackle on the lifting eye. Never lift it by the cable or the hose.
Three-phase supply only. Wiring must be carried out by a registered electrical worker in line with local regulations, with proper earthing and earth-leakage protection. Check the voltage and current on the nameplate before connecting.
Check the rotation direction after connection. If it is wrong, have an electrician swap two phases.
If the built-in thermal protector trips, find the cause of the overheating or overcurrent before running the pump again. Always isolate and lock out the power before inspection or servicing.
For continuous running, keep the water level at or above 190 mm (W1) and do not run the pump dry for long periods. Use a strainer or raise the pump on a firm base so it does not sink into silt.
The standard model is not seawater-resistant, and the KTZ615 is not on Tsurumi's official model list for the Seawater-Resistant Kit. It is not recommended for long-term use in seawater or brackish water.
Do not pump liquids outside pH 5–9, liquids above 40 °C or flammable liquids, and do not use it in explosive atmospheres. The pump is not explosion-proof and is not for drinking water.

Wear parts and routine checks

Main wear parts: impeller, suction cover and mechanical seals. Long running in sandy or corrosive water speeds up wear, and flow and head drop as a result.
Check the oil in the oil chamber regularly (turbine oil ISO VG32, 820 ml). If the oil is cloudy or contains water, have the shaft seals inspected promptly.
Check the cable sheath regularly for damage.
