The TSURUMI LSC2.75S is a submersible residue drainage pump from Tsurumi's LSC series (officially a submersible single-phase portable residue drainage pump). It has a 0.75 kW single-phase capacitor-run motor and a 50 mm discharge, with a 25 mm discharge available on special request. A specially designed bottom plate lets it drain water down to about 1 mm, so it is well suited to clearing small amounts of residual and pooled water from floors, shallow recesses and pits. It weighs 15.2 kg without cable and can be carried by hand.

The LSC2.75S is the more powerful model in the LSC range. According to Tsurumi, its 17 m maximum head is 42% higher than that of the 480 W LSC1.4S, so it can lift water from deeper points and discharge it further.

Selection note: the LSC2.75S must be placed in the water and is not self-priming. If you need to keep the pump outside the water and draw through a suction hose, choose the self-priming LSP1.4S. If you need less head and a lighter unit, the LSC1.4S (25 mm, 0.48 kW) is the alternative. This listing is the standard version (not the 110V version); voltage is as per the nameplate, so confirm your site supply before ordering. LSC pumps are for clean-water duty only and are not suitable for slurry, sludge or sandy water.

Key features

Drains to about 1 mm: the purpose-designed bottom plate clears residual water from floors and shallow pits. A rubber stand helps protect the floor from scratches.
Reverse-flow prevention: a valve seat and swing check valve stop pumped water flowing back when the pump stops.
Multi-directional hose coupling: set the discharge vertical or inclined with a spanner, which helps prevent the discharge hose from kinking.
Top-discharge, flow-thru design: water passing around the motor provides forced cooling, supporting long continuous running at low water levels and improving dry-running tolerance. The pump must still not be run dry.
Double inside mechanical seals: silicon carbide (SiC) faces housed in an oil chamber. Tsurumi states that silicon carbide offers five times the corrosion, wear and heat resistance of tungsten carbide.
Oil Lifter: Tsurumi's own design keeps the seal faces lubricated and cooled even when the oil level falls to about one third of normal.
V-ring: acts as a dust seal, protecting the mechanical seals from abrasive particles.
Anti-wicking cable entry: stops water from creeping along the cable cores into the motor by capillary action if the sheath is damaged or the cable end is submerged.
Built-in circle thermal protector (CTP): stops the motor on overheating or overload.
Wear-resistant materials: urethane rubber impeller and synthetic rubber casing. Tsurumi states that, although single-phase, the pump is as durable as its three-phase drainage pumps.

Performance

The 17 m maximum head quoted by Tsurumi is the near-zero-flow head on the 60 Hz performance curve. Hong Kong mains is 50 Hz, and the 50 Hz curve in Tsurumi's IB101 catalogue shows a zero-flow head of about 15 m. Tsurumi does not publish a rated maximum capacity for the LSC2.75S; the curve extends to about 0.23 m³/min (about 230 L/min) at roughly 7–8 m head (approximate values read from the curve). Actual flow falls as total head (static head plus hose friction loss) rises, so select the pump from the curve using your site's total head. The curves were measured with the pump hanging freely and no restriction on the suction.

Safety and installation

Earth the pump properly and always use an earth-leakage circuit breaker. Never connect the earth wire to a gas pipe, water pipe, lightning conductor or telephone earth. Electrical work must be carried out by a registered electrical worker.
Keep the supply voltage within ±10% of the nameplate rating and make sure the frequency matches the nameplate. When running from a generator, avoid powering other equipment from it at the same time.
The pump will not start unless the casing is wet. At low water levels, prime it by pouring clean water in through the discharge before starting.
Never run the pump dry or against a closed valve. If the motor protector trips, find and remove the cause before restarting.
Lift and carry the pump by its handle, never by the cable. Do not kink or sharply bend the cable, do not submerge a damaged cable, and keep plugs and cable joints dry.
Switch off and unplug the pump before inspection or maintenance. Do not stand near the pump while it is running, to avoid electric shock in the event of leakage.
The pump body is hot during and just after operation; avoid touching it directly.
Use only for clean-water liquids at 0–40 °C. Do not pump oil, salt water, seawater or organic solvents, and do not use near flammable or explosive materials. This pump is not explosion-proof.
After stopping, remove the discharge hose and turn the pump upside down to drain the water left inside.

Wear parts and routine checks

Measure motor insulation resistance and check running current and voltage monthly.
Change the oil-chamber lubricant (ISO VG32) periodically. If the oil is cloudy or contains water, have the mechanical seals inspected promptly.
Check periodically that the swing check valve opens and closes freely.
An overhaul every 2–5 years is recommended. Mechanical seal replacement should be carried out by the agent.
