The TSURUMI LSC1.4S is a single-phase, submersible, portable residue drainage pump from Tsurumi's LSC series (formerly listed in Hong Kong as a low-water-level drainage pump). It has a 25 mm discharge, a 0.48 kW (2/3 HP) capacitor-run single-phase motor and a dry weight of just 12 kg. Its specially designed base plate pumps standing water down to about 1 mm, so it clears the last film of water that ordinary submersible pumps leave behind on site floors, basements and slabs.
A flow-thru, top-discharge design routes the pumped water around the motor to force-cool it, allowing long continuous running at low water levels. The impeller is urethane rubber and the casing is synthetic rubber, giving durability comparable to three-phase drainage pumps despite the single-phase motor.
Selection note: the LSC1.4S is a submersible pump that must sit in the water; it is not self-priming. If the pump needs to stay out of the water and draw through a suction attachment and suction hose, choose the LSP1.4S self-priming residue drainage pump. For automatic start/stop by water level, choose the electrode-type automatic LSCE1.4S. For higher head and a 50 mm discharge, choose the LSC2.75S. This page is the standard version; a 110V version of the LSC1.4S built to the North American 110–120V/60 Hz specification is also available, so choose according to your site power supply.
Key features
- Pumps down to about 1 mm: the special base plate and suction design give a minimum continuous running water level of 1 mm, ideal for clearing residual floor water.
- Built-in check valve: a valve seat with a swing check valve stops pumped water flowing back when the pump stops.
- Adjustable discharge direction: the multi-directional hose coupling switches between vertical and angled discharge with just a wrench, preventing the discharge hose from kinking.
- Rubber-lined base: protects the floor surface.
- Flow-thru top-discharge design: the pumped water force-cools the motor for long continuous running at low water levels and improved tolerance of dry running (the pump must still not be run dry).
- Double inside mechanical seals: silicon carbide (SiC) faces housed in an oil chamber. Tsurumi states that SiC has five times the corrosion, wear and heat resistance of tungsten carbide.
- Oil Lifter: Tsurumi's original design keeps the seal faces lubricated and cooled even when the oil level falls to one third of normal.
- V-ring: an NBR dust seal that protects the shaft seal.
- Built-in motor protector (MTP): a miniature thermal protector cuts motor power on overheating or overload.
- Anti-wicking cable entry: limits water creeping along the cable cores into the motor if the cable sheath is damaged; a cable clip is fitted.

For clear-water duties only (wash water, floor water and standing water) at a liquid temperature of 0–40 °C. Not suitable for mud, sludge, sandy slurry, seawater, salt water, oil, chemicals or organic solvents.
Performance
The maximum head of 11 m (50 Hz) / 12 m (60 Hz) is the head at near-zero flow. Tsurumi does not publish a rated maximum capacity for the LSC1.4S; on the official performance curve, the curve ends at about 0.17 m³/min (about 170 L/min) at roughly 1.5 m of head. The two figures do not occur together: actual flow falls as total head (static head plus hose friction loss) rises. The official curve is measured with the pump suspended and the suction unrestricted, so select the pump from the curve using your site's total head. For more head, consider the LSC2.75S (0.75 kW, 17 m maximum head at 60 Hz).

Safety and installation
- Earth the pump properly and use it with an earth-leakage circuit breaker. Never connect the earth wire to a gas pipe, water pipe, lightning conductor or telephone earth.
- Keep the supply voltage within ±10% of the rating and match the frequency shown on the nameplate. When running from a generator, avoid connecting other equipment at the same time.
- The casing must be wet before starting; on first use or at low water level, pour about 2.5 L of clean water into the discharge outlet.
- Carry the pump by its handle. Never lift or pull it by the cable. Do not kink or sharply bend the cable, do not submerge a damaged cable, and keep cable joints and plugs dry.
- Do not run the pump dry or against a closed valve. If the motor protector trips, find and remove the cause before restarting.
- The pump body is hot during and just after running; avoid touching it directly.
- Do not stand next to the pump while it is running. Switch off and unplug the pump before any inspection or servicing.
- Use for clear water only. Do not pump oil, salt water or solvents, do not use near flammable or explosive materials, and do not exceed 0.2 MPa water pressure.
- After stopping, remove the discharge hose and turn the pump upside down to drain the water inside.
Wear parts and routine checks
- Measure motor insulation resistance monthly and check running current and voltage.
- Check and change the lubricating oil (turbine oil ISO VG32, 155 ml) regularly. If the oil is cloudy or contains water, have the shaft seals inspected promptly.
- Check regularly that the swing check valve opens and closes properly.
- Arrange an overhaul every 2–5 years. Mechanical seal replacement must be carried out by the agent.
