The TSURUMI LSC1.4S (110–120V/60Hz North American version) is a single-phase, submersible, portable residue drainage pump from Tsurumi's LSC series (classed by Tsurumi Hong Kong as a residue dewatering pump) and corresponds to Tsurumi's North American model LSC1.4S-61. It has a 0.48 kW (2/3 HP) single-phase capacitor-run motor and a 3/4-inch (19 mm) hose-coupling outlet. A specially designed base plate lets it pump standing water down to about 1 mm, making it ideal for complete drainage of flat surfaces where there is no sump.
This is the single-phase 110/115/120V, 60Hz version. It must not be connected directly to Hong Kong's 220V/50Hz mains. Tsurumi's operation manual states that a 60Hz pump must not be run on 50Hz, and supply voltage must stay within ±10% of the rating. Before use, confirm that the site supply voltage and frequency match the nameplate.
Selection note: Jaco lists two versions of the LSC1.4S. This product is the 110–120V/60Hz North American version with a 3/4-inch outlet; the standard LSC1.4S has a 25 mm outlet (voltage as per nameplate). The LSC is submersible and must sit in the water it is pumping. If you need to keep the pump out of the water and draw through a suction hose and suction attachment, choose the self-priming LSP1.4S. For automatic start/stop by water level, consider the electrode-type automatic LSCE1.4S.
Key features
- Pumps down to about 1 mm: a special base plate gives a minimum continuous running level of 1 mm (0.04 in), leaving floors almost dry.
- Built-in check valve: a valve seat and swing check valve stop pumped water from flowing back when the pump stops.
- Rubber-lined base: protects the floor surface.
- Adjustable discharge direction: switch between vertical and inclined discharge with a spanner to keep the discharge hose from kinking.
- Flow-thru top-discharge design: pumped water flows around the motor to force-cool it, allowing long continuous running at low water levels and improving tolerance to dry running (the pump must still not be run dry).
- Three-phase-class durability: wear-resistant materials in wearing areas give durability comparable to three-phase dewatering pumps, despite the single-phase motor.
- Double inside mechanical seals: silicon carbide (SiC) faces housed in the oil chamber. Tsurumi states that SiC offers five times the corrosion, wear and heat resistance of tungsten carbide.
- Oil Lifter: Tsurumi's original design keeps the seal faces lubricated and cooled even when the oil level drops to one third of normal.
- Dust and water ingress protection: NBR V-ring dust seal, anti-wicking cable entry to limit water creeping along the cable cores into the motor, and a cable clip.
- Built-in motor protector: a miniature thermal protector in the stator cuts power on overheating or overload.
Applications
- Flat floors: draining floors and other flat surfaces with no sump down to about 1 mm
- Cleaning work: picking up wash water after floor cleaning
- Construction sites: clearing residual water from flat site surfaces (clear water only)
For clear water only, at 0–40 °C. Do not use it for slurry, sludge, oil, seawater or brine, chemicals or organic solvents, and do not use it near flammable or explosive materials.
Performance
The 12 m (39 ft, 60Hz) maximum head is the head at near-zero flow. Tsurumi does not publish a rated maximum capacity for the LSC1.4S; actual flow falls as total head (static head plus hose friction loss) rises. Select the pump against your site's total head using Tsurumi's North American performance curve (60-PC-LSC-01). The official curves are measured with the pump suspended and an unrestricted suction inlet.

- If the cable is extended, the extension conductors must be no smaller in cross-section than the original cable.
Safety and installation
- Earth the pump properly and use it with an earth-leakage circuit breaker. Never connect the earth wire to a gas pipe, water pipe, lightning rod or telephone earth.
- Connect only to a single-phase 110–120V, 60Hz supply matching the nameplate, within ±10% of rated voltage. When running from a generator, do not connect other equipment to it at the same time.
- The casing must be wet before starting; at low water levels, pour about 2.5 L of clean water in through the outlet before starting.
- Never run the pump dry or against a closed valve. If the motor protector trips, find and remove the cause before restarting.
- Never lift or pull the pump by its cable; use the handle. Do not kink or sharply bend the cable, do not submerge a damaged cable, and keep cable joints and the plug dry.
- Switch off and unplug before inspection or maintenance. Do not stand near the water while the pump is running, to avoid electric shock from leakage.
- The pump body is hot during and just after running; avoid touching it, and beware of hot water spurting out when opening the priming plug.
- After stopping, remove the discharge hose and turn the pump upside down to drain the water inside.
Wear parts and routine checks
- Measure insulation resistance monthly and check running current and voltage.
- Change the lubricating oil periodically (turbine oil ISO VG32, 155 ml) and inspect the swing check valve.
- Overhaul every 2–5 years. Mechanical seal replacement must be handled by the agent.
