The TSURUMI HSZ3.75SL is an automatic portable dewatering pump from Tsurumi's HS series (officially classed as Submersible Pumps > Portable Dewatering Pumps, automatic type). It has an 80 mm (3-inch) discharge and a 0.75 kW single-phase capacitor-run motor. A single factory-fitted float switch controls it: the pump starts when water rises to the preset level and stops when it falls back, which eliminates dry-running, reduces power consumption and extends operating life. It is the automatic version of the high-volume, low-head HS3.75SL and has identical performance: up to 580 L/min and 10.8 m maximum head, at a dry weight of 19.6 kg excluding cable. It suits site and drainage work where large volumes of water must be cleared automatically as the level rises.

Selection note: the HSZ3.75SL and the HSZ3.75S are both 80 mm, 0.75 kW automatic models but are tuned differently: the HSZ3.75SL gives more flow (580 L/min) at a lower head (10.8 m), while the HSZ3.75S reaches a higher head (18 m) with less flow (300 L/min). If you do not need automatic operation, the standard (manual) HS3.75SL has the same performance. For a 110V site supply, choose the HSZ3.75SL 110V. The HSZ3.75SL is a dewatering pump, not a slurry or sewage pump; for settled sand and silt, choose the HSD2.55S slurry pump.

Key features

Automatic float-switch operation: a single float switch starts and stops the pump by water level, eliminating dry-running, cutting power consumption and extending operating life. The float switch comes fitted to the pump.
High volume, low head: up to 580 L/min (about 34.8 m³/h), matching the HS3.75SL as the highest-flow model in the HS range.
Side discharge with spiral casing: solids pass through smoothly, and the external side outlet helps draw them in. The semi-vortex urethane rubber impeller passes solids up to 7 mm.

Built-in circle thermal protector (CTP): cuts the motor circuit directly on overheating or overcurrent.
Anti-wicking cable entry: stops water creeping in by capillary action if the sheath is damaged or the cable end is submerged, and prevents condensation inside the motor housing. A cable clip protects against tugging.
Resin stand: prevents scratching the floor.

Performance

The 10.8 m maximum head is the head at near-zero flow, and the 580 L/min (0.58 m³/min, about 34.8 m³/h) maximum capacity is the end point of the performance curve. The two do not occur together: actual flow falls as total head (static head plus hose friction loss) rises. Select the pump from the 50 Hz performance curve using your site's total head. Tsurumi states that the standard and automatic models have identical performance. For higher heads, consider the HSZ3.75S (18 m) or HSZ2.75S (18 m).

Safety and installation

Connect to an earthed single-phase supply of the matching voltage. 110V and 230V versions are not interchangeable. An outlet with earth-leakage (RCD) protection is recommended.
Allow at least 350 mm of space (F) so the float can rise and fall freely without catching on the cable, the pit wall or debris. Size the sump to the catalogue float levels: minimum stop level FL1 150 mm and maximum start level FL2 475 mm.
The built-in thermal protector (CTP) is a safeguard only. A jammed float can keep the pump running dry, so check the float action regularly.
Carry and lower the pump by its handle, never by the power cable. A damaged cable must be replaced or repaired.
Stand the pump on firm ground or a platform so it does not sink into silt.
Do not use in flammable or explosive atmospheres, or with flammable, corrosive or hot liquids. This model is not designed for seawater.
Always disconnect the power before inspection or servicing.

Wear parts and routine checks

Main wear parts: impeller, agitator, mechanical seals and V-ring. Long running in sandy water gradually wears the impeller and flow drops.
Check regularly that the float switch moves freely, and inspect the float and cables for damage.
Check and replace the seal oil (turbine oil ISO VG32, 160 ml) periodically. The Oil Lifter only maintains lubrication down to about 1/3 of the oil level; if the oil is cloudy or contains water, have the shaft seals inspected promptly.
