The TSURUMI 100B45.5 is a submersible sewage pump from Tsurumi's B series (officially: sewage and wastewater pumps with a channel impeller, also known as B-series non-clog pumps). It has a 100 mm discharge and a 5.5 kW, 4-pole, three-phase, continuous-duty dry-type induction motor. Its grey cast-iron, shrouded single-channel impeller is designed as an open flow channel, so solids and fibrous matter pass through with less risk of clogging. At 50 Hz it delivers up to 26 m of head and up to 2,070 L/min, and passes solids up to 40 × 51 mm, making it suited to sewage pits, sumps and industrial wastewater tanks.
Selection note: the 100B45.5 is a sewage and wastewater pump, not a slurry pump. The standard unit is grey cast iron with no agitator and no high-chrome wear parts, so it is not suitable for dense sand slurry, settled sludge or desilting. For that duty, choose the KRD611 or KRS-200 slurry pumps. The standard unit is also not seawater-resistant; seawater-resistant (sacrificial anode) and high-temperature versions are special-order options.
Key features
- Anti-clogging channel impeller: shrouded single-channel impeller with radial gap that "pumps solids like liquids", minimising trouble caused by clogged solids and fibrous matter.
- Dual inside mechanical seals: silicon carbide (SiC) faces running in an oil chamber, with Tsurumi's original Oil Lifter, which keeps the seal faces lubricated and cooled down to about 1/3 of the normal oil level.
- Built-in circle thermal protector (CTP): directly cuts the motor circuit on overheating or overcurrent.
- Anti-wicking cable entry: stops water creeping along the cable by capillary action if the sheath is damaged or the cable end is submerged, and keeps moist air out of the motor housing to prevent condensation.
- Continuous-duty motor: 4-pole dry-type induction motor, insulation class F, IP68.
- Starting: direct-on-line (D.O.L.), with star-delta available on request. Tsurumi Europe lists the B series as suitable for soft starters and variable-frequency drives (VFD).
- Flanged discharge: threaded JIS 10K flange, compatible with the TOS100B45.5 guide rail fitting for easy lifting and maintenance.

Performance
The 26 m maximum head is the head at near-zero flow, and the 2,070 L/min (about 124.2 m³/h) maximum capacity is the end point of the performance curve. The two do not occur together: actual flow falls as total head (static head plus pipe friction loss) rises. Select the pump from the 50 Hz performance curve using your system's total head. For more head or flow, consider the 100B47.5 (7.5 kW, 29.7 m, 2,260 L/min).

Optional accessories
- TOS100B45.5 guide rail fitting: cast iron set with duckfoot bend, guide support (with bolts and nuts), guide hook, 5 m lifting chain (with shackles) and JIS 10K flange. Guide pipes are not supplied. The pump can be raised and lowered along the rails, so maintenance does not require entering the sump.
- Float switches: MC-2 heavy-duty float switch with shock absorber, normally-open or normally-closed selectable, for liquid with suspended solids and scum; or the MT-1 economy teardrop float switch with integrated counterweight and SPDT contact, for emptying or filling control. Connect through an external control panel.
- External control panel: required for three-phase pumps (overload protection, phase and rotation checks). Star-delta panels are available on request.
- Mating flange: specify a JIS 10K mating flange for connection to local pipework.
Safety and installation
- Installation and wiring must be carried out by a registered electrical worker in line with local regulations. Earth the pump correctly and fit overload and earth-leakage protection in the control panel.
- Check the three-phase rotation direction before putting the pump into service.
- After the built-in CTP trips, the motor may restart automatically once it cools. Always isolate the power before inspection or servicing.
- Keep the liquid above the lowest running water level (W1 335 mm) and avoid prolonged dry running.
- For sewage and wastewater at 0–40 °C and pH 5–9 only. Do not pump flammable, explosive or strongly corrosive liquids, or liquids above 40 °C.
- The pump weighs 140 kg dry. Lift it by its lifting point or chain with suitable hoisting equipment, never by the power cable.
- Never submerge the cable end or cut or damage the cable sheath; the anti-wicking cable entry is a safeguard only.
- Do not touch the pump or put hands near the suction while it is energised. In sewage sumps, follow confined-space and toxic gas (such as hydrogen sulphide) precautions; a guide rail fitting allows maintenance without entering the sump.
Wear parts and routine checks
- Main wear parts: impeller, mechanical seals and oil seal.
- Check and replace the oil in the oil chamber regularly (turbine oil ISO VG32, 4,200 ml) to protect the mechanical seals. If the oil is cloudy or contains water, have the shaft seals inspected promptly.
- Regularly check the impeller for entangled debris or wear, and the cable sheath for damage.
