The TSURUMI KRD611 is a heavy-duty submersible slurry pump with agitator from Tsurumi's KRD/KRS series (officially classed in Hong Kong as a construction slurry pump). It has a 150 mm (6-inch) discharge and an 11 kW 4-pole three-phase motor. A high-chrome cast-iron agitator on the shaft stirs up settled silt, sand and grit so the pump can draw it in and discharge it, while the semi-open impeller and suction plate are also high-chrome cast iron for strong wear resistance. It suits slurry and sediment pumping on construction sites and civil engineering works (solids up to 30 mm). The KRD611 was formerly named KRS2-150.
Selection note: the KRD611 looks similar to the KRS dewatering pumps (such as the KRS611 and KRS811), but those have no agitator and are meant for site water carrying only a little sand and silt. Choose a KRD slurry pump for settled sediment and slurry; a KRS dewatering pump is enough for general drainage. The KRD611 is not a sewage pump and is not suitable for wastewater containing fibres or debris.
Key features
- High-chrome agitator: mounted on the shaft and paired with a dedicated strainer, it keeps settled solids in suspension so they can be pumped.
- High-chrome wear parts: both the semi-open impeller and the suction plate are high-chromium cast iron. When wear reduces performance, it can be restored by replacing the suction plate.
- Top-discharge, side-flow design: keeps the motor cooled even when it runs exposed to air, and reduces the overall pump diameter for confined spaces. Keep the liquid above the 270 mm lowest running water level.
- Double inside mechanical seals: silicon carbide (SiC) faces running in an oil chamber, with Tsurumi's Oil Lifter keeping the seals lubricated and cooled down to about one third of the normal oil level. The oil seal doubles as a dust seal that shields the mechanical seal from abrasive particles.
- Built-in circle thermal protector (CTP): cuts the motor circuit directly on overheating or overcurrent.
- Anti-wicking cable entry and cable clip: limit water creeping along the cable into the motor.
- Low-speed 4-pole motor: continuous-duty dry-type induction motor, insulation class F, about 1,450 rpm at 50 Hz.
Applications
- Construction sites: pumping sandy water and slurry from excavations, sumps and settling tanks
- Civil engineering works: discharging slurry water on large projects such as tunnels, bridges and dams
- Sediment removal: clearing silt, sand and grit from the bottom of sumps and tanks
Suitable liquid: water carrying silt, sand, gravel or other particles, at 0–40 °C, pH 5–9 and up to 20% dry matter. The standard model is not for seawater, chemical or corrosive liquids, flammable liquids or hot liquids.
Performance
The 22 m maximum head is the head at near-zero flow, and the 3,250 L/min (about 195 m³/h) maximum capacity is the end point of the performance curve. The two do not occur together: actual flow falls as total head (static head plus hose friction loss) rises, and a denser slurry also affects real-world output. Select the pump from the performance curve using your site's total head. Figures are for 50 Hz. For more flow or head, consider the KRS-200 (31 m, 4,800 L/min).

Optional accessories
- Motor-protection starter or control panel with overload and earth-leakage protection, set to the nameplate rated current. The pump has only a built-in CTP; it has no built-in float switch or control panel.
- 150 mm (6-inch) hose to suit the standard hose coupling.
- Spare wear parts: high-chrome suction plate, impeller, agitator, mechanical seals and turbine oil ISO VG32.
- Series options (to order; ask us about Hong Kong availability): star-delta starting and a seawater-resistant kit (sacrificial anode plus seawater-resistant special cast-iron impeller).
Safety and installation
- The pump weighs about 175 kg dry (excluding cable). Lift it by the lifting handle with suitable lifting gear; never lift it by the cable or the hose.
- Electrical connection, earthing and the overload/earth-leakage protection panel must be installed by a registered electrical worker in line with local regulations. Check the direction of rotation before first use.
- The built-in CTP is back-up protection only; an external motor-protection starter is required. Always isolate the power before inspection or servicing, and take care with the edges of the agitator and impeller.
- Keep the liquid above the 270 mm lowest running water level, and do not exceed 40 °C liquid temperature.
- The pump is not explosion-proof. Do not use it with flammable or explosive liquids or in explosive atmospheres.
- The standard model is not seawater-resistant. Seawater use requires the optional seawater-resistant kit.
Wear parts and routine checks
- Main wear parts: high-chrome suction plate, impeller, agitator, mechanical seals and oil seal. Abrasive slurry gradually wears the impeller and suction plate, so flow and head drop over time.
- When performance drops, inspect the impeller and suction plate and replace the suction plate if needed to restore performance.
- Check the turbine oil (ISO VG32, 2,300 ml) in the oil chamber regularly. Water or slurry in the oil indicates mechanical seal wear; have the seals inspected promptly.
