The TSURUMI 80C27.5-CR is a submersible sewage pump with cutter impeller from Tsurumi's C series, with an 80 mm discharge and a 7.5 kW 2-pole three-phase motor. The "CR" suffix means the impeller and suction cover are made of high-chromium cast iron (not chrome plating), for greater wear resistance and durability than standard cast-iron parts. Brazed sintered tungsten carbide edges on the impeller vanes work against a serrated suction cover to cut fibres and debris as the pump runs, preventing clogging.
It is designed for draining sewage and wastewater from buildings and kitchens, and for transferring sewage and wastewater in the water treatment facilities of factories and commercial complexes. Maximum head is 38 m and maximum capacity 1,000 L/min (50 Hz), with a solids passage of 26 × 25.5 mm.
Selection note: the 80C27.5-CR is a cutter pump, not a grinder pump or macerator (Tsurumi's grinder pumps are the separate MG series), and it is not a construction slurry pump, so it is not suitable for site slurry or settled sludge. It is a non-automatic model with no built-in float switch; automatic start/stop requires a separate float switch and control panel.
Key features
- Cutting mechanism: semi-open two-channel cutter impeller with brazed sintered tungsten carbide edges. Grooves and saw teeth on the suction cover catch fibrous matter so the carbide edges can shred it, preventing fibre clogs. Tsurumi's official C-series demonstration shows the cutter shredding aluminium cans, plastic bottles, non-flushable wipes and nylon pantyhose.
- High-chromium cast iron (CR) impeller and suction cover: wear-resistant construction for long running in sewage containing solids.
- Dual inside mechanical seals: silicon carbide faces on both the upper and lower seals (SiC + SiC), running in an oil chamber, with Tsurumi's patented Oil Lifter, which keeps the seal faces lubricated and cooled even when oil falls to about one third of the normal level.
- Seal pressure relief port: fitted on 2-pole models of 5.5 kW and above, including this model.
- Built-in circle thermal protector (CTP): cuts the motor circuit directly on overheating or overcurrent.
- Anti-wicking cable entry: stops water creeping along the cable cores by capillary action if the sheath is damaged or the cable end is submerged, and keeps moist air and condensation out of the motor.
- Continuous-duty dry-type induction motor: IP68, insulation class F, with permanently lubricated deep-groove double-shielded C3 ball bearings.
- Guide rail option: with the guide rail fitting system (guide-rail model TOS80C27.5-CR), the pump can be lowered and lifted for maintenance without entering the sump.

Performance
The 38 m maximum head is the head at near-zero flow, and the 1,000 L/min (about 60 m³/h) maximum capacity is the end point of the performance curve. The two do not occur together: actual flow falls as total head (static head plus pipe friction loss) rises, so select the pump from the performance curve using your system's total head. For higher head, consider the 80C211-CR (47 m); for more flow at lower head, consider the 80C25.5-CR (up to 1,340 L/min).

Optional accessories
- Free-standing installation: discharge bend BEND 80-80F and pump stand STAND SET. According to Tsurumi's product guide, this model is supplied without the discharge bend and stand; please ask us to confirm the supply scope.
- Guide rail fitting system TOSH-80: duckfoot bend, guide support (with bolts and nuts), guide hook, 5 m lifting chain (with shackles) and threaded JIS 10K flange. The guide pipe is not supplied.
- Float switches: MC-2 (heavy-duty with shock absorber, NO or NC contact) or MT-1 (economy type, SPDT, for filling or emptying) for automatic level control, connected through a control panel.
- External electrode-type leakage sensor.
- Control panel: the standard starting method is direct-on-line; if the star-delta version is ordered, a matching star-delta starter panel is required.
Safety and installation
- Three-phase supply and control panel wiring must be carried out by a registered electrical worker. Earth the pump properly and provide overload and earth-leakage protection.
- The built-in circle thermal protector (CTP) resets automatically, so the motor may restart by itself once it cools after a trip. Isolate and lock out the power before touching the pump or its impeller.
- The impeller carries sharp sintered tungsten carbide edges and the suction cover is serrated. Wear cut-resistant gloves and isolate the power before clearing debris.
- The free-standing pump weighs 125 kg dry. Use suitable lifting gear and lift by the chain or handle. Never lift or lower the pump by its power cable.
- Do not damage the cable sheath or submerge the cable end during installation; the anti-wicking entry is a safeguard only.
- The standard model handles liquids at 0–40 °C and pH 5–9 only. It is not seawater-resistant and not explosion-proof: never pump flammable or explosive liquids, and avoid prolonged dry running.
- Sewage sumps are confined spaces where hydrogen sulphide or oxygen deficiency may occur. Follow Hong Kong confined-space requirements before entry. A guide rail installation allows servicing without entering the sump.
Wear parts and routine checks
- Main wear parts: cutter impeller, suction cover, mechanical seals and oil seal.
- Check the oil in the oil chamber (turbine oil ISO VG32, 2,090 ml) periodically as set out in the instruction manual. If the oil is cloudy or contains water, have the shaft seals inspected promptly.
- If flow drops noticeably or the pump clogs, isolate the power and inspect the impeller cutting edges and suction cover for wear.
