The TSURUMI 80C22.2-CR is the 80 mm discharge, 2.2 kW two-pole three-phase model in Tsurumi's C series of submersible sewage pumps with cutter impeller. The "CR" suffix means the impeller and suction cover are made of high-chromium cast iron (it does not mean chrome plating), giving better wear resistance than standard cast iron. The semi-open two-channel cutter impeller carries brazed sintered tungsten carbide alloy edges that work against a serrated suction cover to shred fibres and solids as they are drawn in, so the pump does not clog. It is designed to drain sewage and wastewater from buildings and kitchens, and to transfer sewage and wastewater within the treatment facilities of factories and commercial complexes.

Selection note: the 80C22.2-CR is a cutter pump, not a grinder (macerator) pump and not a slurry pump. Compared with the other 80 mm entry model, the 80C21.5 (1.5 kW, grey cast-iron single-channel impeller, non-CR), the 80C22.2-CR delivers more head (21 m vs 13.2 m) and uses high-chromium wear parts, but has a smaller solids passage (22 × 31 mm vs 43 × 60 mm). For higher total heads, consider the 80C23.7-CR (3.7 kW, 29 m max head), which has near-identical dimensions and weight.

Key features

Cutter impeller: sintered tungsten carbide alloy edges are brazed onto the vanes, while grooves and serrations on the face of the suction cover catch fibrous matter for shredding. Tsurumi's own demonstrations show it cutting aluminium cans, plastic bottles, non-flushable wipes and nylon pantyhose.
CR high-chromium wear parts: both the impeller and suction cover are high-chromium cast iron for greater durability when handling sewage carrying solids.
Dual inside mechanical seals: silicon carbide on silicon carbide (SiC) faces on both the upper and lower seals, running in an oil chamber. Tsurumi rates SiC at five times the corrosion, wear and heat resistance of tungsten carbide.
Oil Lifter (Tsurumi patented design): keeps the seal faces lubricated and cooled even when the oil drops to about one third of the normal level.
Built-in circle thermal protector (CTP): cuts the motor circuit directly on overheating or overcurrent and resets automatically once the motor cools.
Anti-wicking cable entry: stops water creeping along the cable cores by capillary action if the sheath is damaged or the cable end is submerged, and keeps moist air and condensation out of the motor.
Continuous-duty dry motor: IP68 dry-type induction motor with class F insulation and permanently lubricated, double-shielded deep-groove C3 ball bearings.
Guide rail option: as the TOS80C22.2-CR, the pump can be raised and lowered on a guide rail for servicing without entering the sump.

Performance

At 50 Hz, the 21 m maximum head is the head at near-zero flow, and the 750 L/min (45 m³/h) maximum capacity is the end point of the performance curve. The two do not occur together: actual flow falls as total head (static head plus pipe friction loss) rises. Select the pump from Tsurumi's performance curve using your site's total head, and compare the other 80 mm models in the table below if you need more head or flow.

Guide rail fitting TOSH-80: Tsurumi's C series guide rail set comprises a duckfoot bend, guide support (with bolts and nuts), guide hook, 5 m lifting chain (with shackles) and a threaded JIS 10 kg/cm² flange. The guide pipe is not included and must be supplied on site.
Float switches MC-2 / MT-1: for liquid level control. The 80C22.2-CR is a non-automatic pump with no built-in float switch, and as a three-phase pump it must be connected to the float switch through a control panel.
External electrode leakage sensor: this model has no built-in leakage sensor; add one if you need to monitor water ingress into the oil chamber.

Safety and installation

Three-phase power and control panel wiring must be carried out by a registered electrical worker in line with local regulations. Earth the pump properly and provide overload and earth-leakage protection, with the overload relay set to the nameplate rated current.
The built-in circle thermal protector resets automatically, so the motor restarts by itself once it cools after a trip. Always isolate and lock out the power before clearing the impeller or carrying out any inspection.
The impeller has sharp tungsten carbide alloy edges and the suction cover is serrated. Wear cut-resistant gloves when clearing debris.
Lift the pump by its lifting chain or handle, never by the power cable. The free-standing pump weighs about 70 kg dry, so use suitable lifting gear.
Do not damage the cable sheath or let the cable end become submerged during installation; the anti-wicking cable entry is a safeguard, not a substitute for proper handling.
The standard model is for liquids at 0–40 °C and pH 5–9 only. It is not seawater-resistant and not explosion-proof: do not pump flammable or explosive liquids, and avoid prolonged dry running.
Sewage sumps are confined spaces that may contain hydrogen sulphide or low oxygen. Follow Hong Kong confined-space regulations; a guide rail fitting lets the pump be lifted out for servicing without entering the sump.

Wear parts and routine checks

Main wear parts: impeller (tungsten carbide alloy edges), suction cover, mechanical seals and oil seal. With long service in sewage carrying solids, the cutting edges and suction cover gradually wear, reducing cutting performance and flow.
Check the level and condition of the oil in the oil chamber (turbine oil ISO VG32, 1,890 ml) regularly as set out in the instruction manual. If the oil is cloudy or contains water, have the shaft seals inspected promptly.
