The TSURUMI 80C211-CR is an 80 mm model in Tsurumi's C series of submersible sewage pumps with cutter impeller. It has an 11 kW 2-pole three-phase motor with star-delta starting. The "CR" suffix means the impeller and suction cover are made of high-chromium cast iron (not chrome plating), giving better wear resistance than a standard grey cast-iron impeller. The semi-open two-channel cutter impeller carries brazed sintered tungsten carbide edges that work against a serrated suction cover to cut fibrous matter as it is pumped, preventing clogging.
Grooves on the front of the suction cover catch fibres, which the carbide edges and saw teeth then shred. In Tsurumi's own demonstrations, the C series cuts aluminium cans, plastic bottles, non-flushable wipes and nylon pantyhose, making it well suited to sewage and wastewater carrying solids.
Selection note: the C series is a cutter pump, not a grinder pump or macerator, and not a slurry or sand pump. The high-chromium impeller and suction cover on the 80C211-CR add wear resistance against solids, but the pump is not intended for continuous dense slurry or site mud. If you need less head, consider the other 80 mm models, the 80C27.5-CR (7.5 kW) or 80C25.5-CR (5.5 kW).
Key features
- High-chromium two-channel cutter impeller: semi-open, two-channel design with brazed sintered tungsten carbide edges, working against a serrated high-chromium suction cover to cut fibrous debris and reduce clogging.
- Double inside mechanical seals: silicon carbide on both upper and lower faces (SiC + SiC), running in an oil chamber. Tsurumi rates SiC at around five times the corrosion, wear and heat resistance of tungsten carbide.
- Oil Lifter (Tsurumi patented design): keeps the seal faces lubricated and cooled even when the oil level drops to about one third of normal.
- Seal pressure relief port: fitted on 2-pole models of 5.5 kW and above, including the 80C211-CR.
- Miniature thermal protectors (MTP): embedded in each motor winding to detect overheating such as from dry-running. They only open a signal circuit, so they must be wired to a control panel that cuts the power.
- Anti-wicking cable entry: stops water creeping along the cable cores into the motor if the sheath is damaged or the cable end is submerged, and keeps moist air and condensation out of the motor.
- Continuous-duty motor: dry-type induction motor, IP68, class F insulation, with permanently lubricated deep-groove double-shielded C3 ball bearings.

Performance
The 47 m maximum head is the head at near-zero flow, and the 1,200 L/min (about 72 m³/h) maximum capacity is the end point of the performance curve. The two do not occur together: actual flow falls as total head (static head plus pipe friction loss) rises. Select the pump from the performance curve using your installation's total head. Of the C-series 80 mm models available from Jaco, the 80C211-CR has the highest maximum head, making it the choice for higher-lift sewage transfer.

Optional accessories
- Discharge bend and pump stand: BEND 80-80F with STAND SET. According to Tsurumi's product guide, this model is supplied without the discharge bend and stand; confirm the supply scope with the Hong Kong agent.
- Guide rail fitting system (TOSH-80): the pump is lowered onto and lifted off the duckfoot bend along guide pipes, so it can be serviced without entering the sump. The set includes the duckfoot bend, guide support (with bolts and nuts), guide hook, 5 m lifting chain (with shackles) and a threaded JIS 10K flange; guide pipes are not supplied.
- Star-delta starter panel: must also take the MTP protector leads (1×2×1.25 mm²).
- Float switches (level control): MC-2 heavy-duty type or MT-1 economy type.
- External electrode leakage sensor: optional; this model has no built-in leakage sensor.
Safety and installation
- Three-phase connection and control panel wiring must be carried out by a registered electrical worker in line with local regulations. Earth the pump properly and provide overload and earth-leakage protection.
- The MTP only opens a signal circuit. If its leads are not connected, the motor has no thermal protection, so make sure the control panel cuts power on the MTP signal.
- The sintered tungsten carbide impeller edges and serrated suction cover are very sharp. Isolate and lock out the power and wear cut-resistant gloves before clearing debris.
- The pump weighs about 147 kg dry. Use suitable lifting gear, lift by the chain or handle, and never lift the pump by its power cable.
- Do not damage the cable sheath or submerge the cable end during installation; the anti-wicking entry is a safeguard only.
- The standard model is limited to 0–40 °C and pH 5–9, is not seawater-resistant and is not explosion-proof. Do not pump flammable or explosive liquids, and avoid prolonged dry-running.
- Sewage sumps are confined spaces with a risk of hydrogen sulphide or low oxygen. Follow local confined-space rules before entry; a guide rail fitting lets you service the pump from outside the sump.
Wear parts and routine checks
- Main wear parts: impeller, suction cover, mechanical seals and oil seal.
- Check the turbine oil (ISO VG32, 2,090 ml) in the oil chamber periodically as described in the manual. If the oil is cloudy or contains water, have the shaft seals inspected promptly.
