The TSURUMI 50NHC23.0 is a submersible cutter sewage pump from the NHC series (2-pole) of Tsurumi's TSURUMI UNIVERSE brand. It has a 50 mm discharge and a 3.0 kW three-phase motor. Two sintered tungsten carbide alloy edges are brazed onto the impeller vanes and run against the serrated suction cover, cutting up fibrous material as it enters so that it does not clog the discharge pipe or valves. Tsurumi positions the NHC for raw sewage, wastewater and heavy-duty industrial duties where pumps are prone to clogging from oversize material.

Selection note: on the official curves, the 50NHC23.0 and the 50NHC23.7 have about the same shut-off head (approx. 31.5 m), but the 3.7 kW model reaches a higher flow (curve end point approx. 0.67 m³/min). If your site needs more flow at a lower head, consider the 80NHC23.0, also 3.0 kW but with an 80 mm discharge (shut-off head approx. 16.7 m, curve end point approx. 1.25 m³/min). Note also that the Tsurumi C series, which shares the same Chinese name on Tsurumi's Hong Kong website, is a different series with different specifications.

Key features

Performance

Read from the official 50 Hz performance curve, the 50NHC23.0 has a maximum head of approx. 31.5 m, which is the head at near-zero flow. The curve ends at approx. 0.50 m³/min (about 500 L/min) at approx. 21 m head. The two do not occur together: actual flow falls as total head (static head plus pipe friction loss) rises. These are curve readings for reference, not guaranteed duty points, so select the pump from the performance curve using your site's total head. Tsurumi advises against continuous operation along the dashed (low-flow) part of the curve.

Guide rail fitting set (TOS model, ordered separately): order as TOS50NHC23.0. The set includes a duckfoot bend, guide support (with bolts and nuts), guide hook, 5 m lifting chain with shackles, and a JIS 10kg/cm² flange. The guide pipe is not supplied and must be sourced locally.
Float switches (level switches): MC-2 heavy-duty float with shock absorber, for liquids with much suspended solids and scum, with NO or NC contact selectable; MT-1 economy teardrop float with an SPDT contact for filling or emptying control.
Control panel: three-phase pumps must be connected through a control panel with overload and short-circuit protection.
Lubricant: turbine oil ISO VG32 (1,100 ml for this model).

Safety and installation

Electrical connection must be made by a registered electrical worker in line with local regulations, with proper earthing and overload, short-circuit and earth-leakage protection.
Check the direction of rotation before first use. If it is wrong, have an electrician swap two phases.
Lift the pump by its handle or lifting chain. Never lift it by the power cable.
Isolate and lock out the power before inspecting or clearing the suction cover. The tungsten carbide edges and serrated suction cover are sharp, so wear gloves.
No explosion-proof rating is published for this model. Do not use it in flammable or explosive atmospheres.
Sewage pits are confined spaces with hydrogen sulphide and oxygen-deficiency hazards. A guide rail installation lets the pump be lifted out for service without entering the pit.
Avoid continuous operation along the dashed (low-flow) part of the performance curve.

Wear parts and routine checks

The Oil Lifter only keeps the seals lubricated down to about one third of the normal oil level, so check the oil level and condition in the oil chamber regularly. If the oil is cloudy or contains water, have the mechanical seals inspected promptly.
As general guidance, the impeller cutting edges, suction cover, mechanical seals and oil seal are the usual wear parts. If flow drops noticeably or vibration increases, check the impeller and suction cover for wear or wrapped debris.
