The TSURUMI 80NHC23.0 is a submersible non-clogging cutter sewage pump from the NHC series of Tsurumi's TSURUMI UNIVERSE brand. It has an 80 mm discharge and a 3.0 kW 2-pole three-phase motor (3000 min⁻¹ at 50 Hz). Its semi-open two-channel impeller carries two sintered tungsten carbide alloy edges brazed onto the vanes, which rotate against the serrated suction port of the suction cover. Fibrous material drawn in with the sewage is cut up, which prevents clogging in discharge pipes and valves. It is designed for raw sewage, wastewater and heavy-duty industrial duties where pumps are prone to clogging by oversize material.

Selection note: the 80NHC23.0 is a low-head, high-flow model. On the official curve its shut-off head (approx. 16.7 m) is lower than that of the smaller 80NHC22.2 (approx. 22 m), but it reaches approx. 1.25 m³/min, the highest flow of the NHC 80 mm models we list. More kW does not mean more head, so select by your total head. For higher heads, consider the 80NHC23.7 or 80NHC211.

Key features

Cutting mechanism: a grey cast-iron impeller with brazed sintered tungsten carbide edges works against the serrated suction port of a ductile-iron suction cover to cut rags and fibres and prevent clogging in pipes and valves.
Double inside mechanical seals: silicon carbide (SiC) faces running in an oil chamber.
Oil Lifter (Tsurumi original design): keeps the seal faces lubricated and cooled even when the oil level falls to about one third of normal.
Built-in circle thermal protector (CTP): directly cuts the motor circuit on excessive heat or overcurrent.
Class H dry-type induction motor: continuous-duty rated, direct-on-line (D.O.L.) starting.
Anti-wicking cable entry: limits water creeping along the cable cores into the motor if the cable sheath is damaged.

Performance

The figures below are read from Tsurumi's official 50 Hz performance curve. They are approximate and are not guaranteed duty points. The maximum head of approx. 16.7 m is the head at near-zero flow; the curve ends at approx. 1.25 m³/min (about 75 m³/h) at approx. 6.5 m head. The two do not occur together: actual flow falls as total head (static head plus pipe friction loss) rises. The official catalogue advises against continuous operation on the dashed (low-flow) part of the curve.

Guide rail fitting (TOS80NHC23.0): ordered separately. The set includes a duckfoot bend, guide support (with bolts and nuts), guide hook, 5 m lifting chain with shackles and a JIS 10kg/cm² flange. The guide pipe is not supplied and must be sourced locally.
Float switches (level sensors): MC-2 heavy-duty float switch with shock absorber, for liquids with much suspended solids and scum, NO or NC contact selectable; MT-1 economy float switch for scum-laden wastewater, with an SPDT contact for filling or emptying control.
Control panel: three-phase pumps must be connected through a control panel with overload and short-circuit protection; float switches also control the pump through the panel.
Lubricant: turbine oil ISO VG32 (1100 ml for this model).

Electrical connection must be made by a registered electrical worker in line with local regulations, with proper earthing and overload, short-circuit and earth-leakage protection.
Check the rotation direction before first use; if it is wrong, have an electrician swap two phases.
Lift the pump by its handle or lifting chain, never by the cable (free-standing dry weight 55 kg).
Isolate and lock out the power before inspecting or clearing the suction cover. The tungsten carbide edges and serrated suction cover are sharp; wear protective gloves.
Do not run continuously on the dashed (low-flow) part of the performance curve.
No explosion-proof rating is published; do not use in flammable or explosive atmospheres.
Sewage sumps are confined spaces with hydrogen sulphide and oxygen-deficiency hazards. A guide rail installation lets the pump be lifted for service without entering the sump.

Main wear parts: impeller (tungsten carbide edges), suction cover, mechanical seals and oil seal. Wear on the cutting edges and suction cover affects cutting performance, so inspect them regularly.
The Oil Lifter maintains seal lubrication only down to about one third of the normal oil level, so check the oil level and condition regularly. If the oil is cloudy or contains water, have the shaft seals inspected promptly.
Regularly clear debris wrapped around the suction area and check the cable sheath for damage.
