The TSURUMI 50C2.75S is the single-phase model in Tsurumi's C series of submersible sewage pumps with cutter impeller. It has a 50 mm discharge and a 0.75 kW 2-pole, capacitor-start single-phase motor. Sintered tungsten carbide alloy edges brazed onto the impeller vane work against a serrated suction cover to shred fibrous matter and solids as they are drawn in, preventing clogging. The pump is designed for draining sewage and wastewater from buildings and kitchens, and for transferring sewage and wastewater in the treatment facilities of factories and commercial complexes. It is a practical choice where no three-phase supply is available.

Selection note: the "S" at the end of the model number means single-phase. The 50C2.75S shares its discharge size, motor output and hydraulic performance with the three-phase 50C2.75; the difference is the power supply. Because it houses a capacitor, the single-phase version is taller and heavier (free-standing: 523 mm / 32 kg, against 415 mm / 24 kg for the three-phase model). This model has a grey cast-iron impeller and is not a "CR" high-chromium cast-iron model. C-series pumps are cutter pumps, not grinder pumps or macerators, and are not intended for slurry or sand transfer.

Key features

Tungsten carbide cutter: the semi-open single-channel impeller carries a brazed, sintered tungsten carbide alloy edge. Grooves and saw teeth on the front of the suction cover catch fibrous matter, which the edge and teeth then shred, so fibres cannot wrap and clog the pump. In Tsurumi's own demonstrations the cutter shreds aluminium cans, plastic bottles, non-flushable wipes and nylon pantyhose.
Single-phase, capacitor-start motor: a 0.75 kW 2-pole dry-type induction motor, IP68, rated for continuous duty, that runs on a single-phase supply.
Dual inside mechanical seals: running in an oil chamber, with ceramic + carbon upper faces and silicon carbide + silicon carbide lower faces.
Patented Tsurumi Oil Lifter: keeps the seal faces lubricated and cooled even when the oil level drops to about one third of normal.
Built-in circle thermal protector (CTP): cuts the motor circuit directly on overheating or overcurrent.
Anti-wicking cable entry: stops water creeping along the cable cores into the motor by capillary action if the sheath is damaged or the cable end is submerged, and keeps out moist air and condensation.
Guide rail ready: the guide-rail version, TOS50C2.75S, can be lowered and lifted along the rails, so the pump can be serviced without entering the sump.

Performance

The 11.5 m maximum head is the head at near-zero flow, and the 335 L/min (about 20.1 m³/h) maximum capacity is the end point of the performance curve (50 Hz). The two do not occur together: actual flow falls as total head (static head plus pipe friction loss) rises, so select the pump from the performance curve using your site's total head. Solids passage is 31 × 27 mm (50 Hz). For more flow or head, consider the 80 mm 80C21.5 or 80C22.2-CR (both three-phase).

Safety and installation

Electrical connection must be made by a registered electrical worker in line with local regulations. Earth the pump properly and provide overload and earth-leakage protection.
The built-in circle thermal protector resets automatically: once the motor cools after a trip, the pump can restart by itself. Isolate and lock out the power before inspecting the pump or clearing the impeller.
The impeller has sharp tungsten carbide edges and the suction cover is serrated. Wear cut-resistant gloves when clearing debris.
Never lift or lower the pump by its power cable; use a lifting chain. The free-standing pump weighs 32 kg, so use suitable lifting gear.
Do not damage the cable sheath or submerge the cable end during installation. The anti-wicking entry is a safeguard only.
Avoid prolonged dry running. Do not pump flammable or explosive liquids; this is not an explosion-proof pump.
The standard model is not seawater-resistant. Do not use it for liquids above 40 °C or outside pH 5–9.
Sewage sumps are confined spaces that may contain hydrogen sulphide or lack oxygen. Follow Hong Kong confined-space regulations. A guide rail fitting lets you service the pump without entering the sump.

Wear parts and routine checks

Main wear parts: impeller (tungsten carbide edge), suction cover, mechanical seals and oil seal.
Check the turbine oil (ISO VG32, 590 ml) in the oil chamber periodically as described in the instruction manual. If the oil is cloudy or contains water, have the shaft seals inspected promptly.
