The TSURUMI 100C47.5 is a submersible non-clogging sewage pump with a cutter impeller from Tsurumi's C series. It has a 100 mm discharge and a 7.5 kW 4-pole three-phase motor. Its impeller vanes carry brazed sintered tungsten carbide edges that work against a serrated suction cover, shredding fibres and debris as they are drawn in so the pump keeps running without clogging. It is designed for draining sewage and wastewater from buildings and kitchens, and for transferring sewage in the treatment facilities of factories and commercial complexes (liquid 0–40 °C, pH 5–9, solids passage 76 × 69 mm).
Selection note: the 100C47.5 is a cutter pump, not a grinder pump or macerator; Tsurumi's grinder pumps are the separate MG series. It is also not a "-CR" high-chromium model: the impeller is grey cast iron with tungsten carbide edges and the suction cover is ductile cast iron. For sewage carrying more abrasive solids, consider an 80 mm high-chromium model such as the 80C27.5-CR, or order the factory high-chromium impeller and suction cover option. This pump is not intended for construction slurry or sand transfer.
Key features
- Cutter impeller: semi-open single-channel impeller with brazed sintered tungsten carbide edges. Grooves on the front of the suction cover catch fibrous matter, which the carbide edges and saw teeth then cut, preventing clogging. In Tsurumi's own demonstrations it cuts aluminium cans, plastic bottles, non-flushable wipes and nylon pantyhose.
- Dual inside mechanical seals: running in an oil chamber, with ceramic + carbon upper faces and silicon carbide (SiC) + SiC lower faces. Tsurumi rates SiC at five times the corrosion, wear and heat resistance of tungsten carbide.
- Tsurumi's patented Oil Lifter: keeps the seal faces lubricated and cooled even when the oil level drops to one third of normal.
- Built-in circle thermal protector (CTP): cuts the motor circuit directly on overheating or overcurrent.
- Anti-wicking cable entry: stops water creeping along the cable cores by capillary action if the sheath is damaged or the cable end is submerged, and keeps moist air and condensation out of the motor.
- Continuous-duty motor: 4-pole dry-type induction motor, IP68, insulation class F, with permanently lubricated deep-groove, double-shielded C3 ball bearings.
- Guide rail ready: with the TOS guide rail fitting (guide-rail model TOS100C47.5), the pump can be raised and lowered along the rails, so servicing does not require entering the sump.

Performance
The 23 m maximum head is the head at near-zero flow, and the 2,500 L/min (about 150 m³/h) maximum capacity is the end point of the 50 Hz performance curve. The two do not occur together: actual flow falls as total head (static head plus pipe friction loss) rises. Select the pump from the performance curve using your system's total head. For more head or flow, consider the 100C411 (25.8 m, 2,750 L/min); for lighter duty, the 100C45.5 (18.1 m, 2,290 L/min).

Optional accessories
- Discharge bend and stand (free-standing installation): BEND 100-100F and STAND SET. Please ask us to confirm whether the bend and stand are included in the standard supply.
- TOS guide rail fitting (TOS3-100-100): duckfoot bend, guide support (with bolts and nuts), guide hook, 5 m lifting chain (with shackles) and threaded JIS 10K flange. Guide pipes are not supplied.
- Float switches (level control): MC-2 heavy-duty float switch (with shock absorber, NO or NC contact) or MT-1 economy float switch. Three-phase pumps must be connected through a control panel.
- External leakage sensor: electrode type, available separately.
- Control panel: DOL as standard; star-delta starting available on request.
- Factory options: seawater-resistant version, high-temperature version (up to 80 °C), special materials (stainless steel, high-chromium cast iron or bronze) and a dry pit version (D-prefix models).
Safety and installation
- Three-phase connection and control-panel wiring must be carried out by a registered electrical worker in line with local regulations. Earth the pump properly and provide overload and earth-leakage protection.
- The built-in thermal protector resets automatically, so the motor restarts by itself once it cools. Always isolate and lock out the power before touching the pump or clearing the impeller.
- The impeller carries sharp tungsten carbide edges and the suction cover is serrated. Wear cut-resistant gloves when clearing debris.
- The pump weighs about 144 kg dry, so use suitable lifting equipment. Lift it by the chain or handle, never by the power cable.
- Do not damage the cable sheath during installation, and do not submerge the cable end.
- The standard model is for liquids at 0–40 °C and pH 5–9 only. It is not seawater-resistant and not explosion-proof: never pump flammable or explosive liquids, and avoid prolonged dry running.
- Sewage sumps are confined spaces with possible hydrogen sulphide or oxygen deficiency. Follow Hong Kong confined-space regulations before entry. A guide rail installation allows the pump to be serviced without entering the sump.
Wear parts and routine checks
- Main wear parts: cutter impeller, suction cover, mechanical seals and oil seal.
- Check the turbine oil in the oil chamber (ISO VG32, 4,800 ml) periodically as set out in the manual. If the oil is cloudy or contains water, have the shaft seals inspected promptly.
- Inspect the impeller edges and the suction cover teeth for wear regularly; arrange servicing if cutting performance or flow drops.
