The TSURUMI 100C45.5 is a submersible sewage pump with cutter impeller from Tsurumi's C series. It has a 100 mm discharge and a 5.5 kW 4-pole three-phase motor. Its semi-open single-channel impeller carries a brazed sintered tungsten carbide alloy edge that works against a grooved, serrated ductile-iron suction cover, shredding rags, wipes and other fibrous matter as it is drawn in so the impeller and pipework do not clog. It is designed for draining sewage and wastewater from buildings and kitchens, and for transferring sewage and wastewater in the treatment facilities of factories and commercial complexes.

Selection note: the 100C45.5 is a cutter pump, not a grinder pump or macerator; Tsurumi's grinder pumps are the separate MG series. It is a non-automatic model with no built-in float switch; for automatic level-controlled operation, add a separate float switch connected through a control panel. The impeller is gray cast iron, not a "CR" high-chromium cast iron model; for liquids carrying more abrasive solids, ask the factory about the optional high-chromium impeller and suction cover.

Key features

Tungsten carbide cutter: brazed sintered tungsten carbide edges on the impeller vanes. Grooves on the front of the suction cover catch fibrous matter, which the carbide edge and saw teeth then shred, preventing clogging by fibers. In Tsurumi's own demonstration, C-series pumps cut aluminum cans, plastic bottles, non-flushable wipes and nylon pantyhose.
Dual inside mechanical seals: running in an oil chamber, with ceramic/carbon upper faces and silicon carbide/silicon carbide (SiC) lower faces. Tsurumi rates SiC at five times the corrosion, wear and heat resistance of tungsten carbide.
Oil Lifter (Tsurumi patented): keeps the seal faces lubricated and cooled even when the oil drops to about one third of its normal level.
Anti-wicking cable entry: stops water creeping along the cable cores by capillary action if the sheath is damaged or the cable end is submerged, and keeps moist air and condensation out of the motor.
Built-in circle thermal protector (CTP): automatic-reset protector that cuts the motor circuit directly on overheating or overcurrent.
Low-speed 4-pole motor: 1,500/1,800 min⁻¹ synchronous speed (50/60 Hz), continuous-duty dry-type induction motor, IP68.
Guide rail ready: available as TOS100C45.5 for guide rail installation. The pump is lowered onto the duckfoot bend along the rails, so it can be serviced without entering the sump.

Performance

The 18.1 m maximum head is the head at zero flow, and the 2,290 L/min (about 137 m³/h) maximum capacity is the end point of the 50 Hz performance curve. The two do not occur together: actual flow falls as total head (static head plus pipe friction loss) rises. Select the pump from the performance curve using your installation's total head. For more head or flow, consider the 100C47.5 (23 m / 2,500 L/min) or 100C411 (25.8 m / 2,750 L/min).

Safety and installation

Three-phase supply and control panel wiring must be carried out by a registered electrical worker. Earth the pump properly and fit overload and earth-leakage protection.
The built-in thermal protector resets automatically, so the motor restarts by itself once it cools. Always isolate and lock out the power before touching the pump or impeller.
The impeller has sharp sintered tungsten carbide edges and the suction cover is serrated. Wear cut-resistant gloves and make sure the power is off before clearing debris.
The pump weighs 133 kg dry (free-standing). Use suitable lifting gear and lift by the chain or handle, never by the power cable.
Do not damage the cable sheath or submerge the cable end during installation; the anti-wicking cable entry is a safeguard, not a substitute for careful handling.
The standard version is rated for 0–40 °C and pH 5–9 and is not seawater-resistant. Avoid prolonged dry running, and never pump flammable or explosive liquids (this is not an explosion-proof pump).
Sewage sumps are confined spaces where hydrogen sulfide or low oxygen may be present; follow Hong Kong confined-space regulations. A guide rail fitting lets you lift the pump out for service without entering the sump.

Wear parts and routine checks

Check the oil condition in the oil chamber regularly as set out in the manual (turbine oil ISO VG32, 4,200 ml). If the oil is cloudy or contains water, have the shaft seals inspected promptly.
If flow drops noticeably or the pump clogs frequently, inspect the impeller cutter edge and suction cover for wear.
