Loctite Retaining Compound #648

LOCTITE #648 is a single-component anaerobic retaining compound designed for bonding cylindrical fitting parts. It cures when confined in the absence of air between close-fitting metal surfaces, preventing loosening and leakage caused by shock and vibration. This product is particularly suitable for applications requiring maximum strength at room temperature with bond gaps up to 0.15 mm. It offers excellent high-temperature resistance and oil tolerance, making it effective on lightly contaminated surfaces such as those exposed to cutting fluids, lubricants, corrosion preventatives, or protective coatings. Typical applications include securing gears and sprockets onto gearbox shafts and rotors onto electric motor shafts.
