The TSURUMI HSD2.55S 110V is the single-phase 110V 50Hz version of Tsurumi's HSD portable slurry pump (officially listed by Tsurumi Hong Kong under Submersible Pumps > Slurry Pumps). It has a 50 mm discharge and a 0.55 kW single-phase capacitor-run motor. The HSD is a submersible single-phase portable slurry pump with an agitator: its high-chrome cast-iron agitator helps draw in settled sludge and sediment, and wear-prone parts are made of abrasion-resistant material. It weighs 14 kg dry (excluding cable), and this version is designed to run from a site 110V isolating transformer for pumping water laden with settled sand, silt, sludge and bentonite.
This is the manual version (no float switch); start and stop it with an external switch or control panel. The manufacturer's model code is HSD2.55S; "110V" denotes the supply version only and is not part of Tsurumi's model code.
Selection note: the HSD2.55S looks similar to the HS portable dewatering pumps, but it has a high-chrome impeller and agitator for settled sediment and slurry. For ordinary site water where you need more head, choose the HS2.75S 110V portable dewatering pump (18 m max. head). To pump surface water down to about 1 mm, choose the HSR2.4S residue dewatering pump. If you are not using 110V site power, choose the standard-voltage HSD2.55S. The HSD2.55S is a slurry pump, not a sewage pump, and is not suitable for sewage containing fibres or large solids.
Key features
- High-chrome impeller and agitator: both the semi-vortex impeller and the shaft-mounted agitator are high-chromium cast iron for wear resistance. The agitator stirs up settled matter and prevents the air lock that vortex-type pumps are prone to.
- Abrasion-resistant wear parts: Tsurumi says this gives durability equivalent to its three-phase drainage pumps.
- Side discharge with spiral casing: the external side discharge and spiral pump casing let solids pass more smoothly and help draw in sediment.
- Double inside mechanical seals: silicon carbide (SiC) faces running in an oil chamber, with Tsurumi's Oil Lifter keeping the faces lubricated and cooled down to one third of the normal oil level, plus a nitrile rubber (NBR) V-ring dust seal.
- Built-in circle thermal protector (CTP): cuts the motor circuit directly on overheating or overcurrent.
- Anti-wicking cable entry: stops water creeping into the motor by capillary action if the sheath is damaged or the cable end is submerged, and prevents condensation inside the motor housing. A cable clip protects against tugging.
- Resin stand: prevents scratching of floors.
- Continuous-duty rated: dry-type induction motor, 2-pole, insulation class E, capacitor run.

Not suitable for seawater, corrosive or flammable liquids, hot liquids or sewage.
Performance
The 13.2 m maximum head is the head at near-zero flow, and the 220 L/min (about 13.2 m³/h) maximum capacity is the end point of the performance curve. The two do not occur together: actual flow falls as total head (static head plus hose friction loss) rises. Select the pump from the performance curve using your site's total head.

Safety and installation
- Connect only to a single-phase 110V 50 Hz supply (normally via a site isolating transformer). Never connect it directly to 220V mains.
- Electrical connection must be made by a registered electrical worker in line with local regulations, and the supply must be earthed. An earth-leakage (RCD) protected supply is recommended.
- Use the handle to lift or lower the pump; never lift it by the cable. Protect the cable from damage, and replace or repair a damaged cable before use.
- Keep at least 105 mm of water for continuous running. The built-in CTP is a safeguard only; do not run the pump dry for long periods.
- Stand the pump on firm ground or a platform so it does not sink into silt, while still letting the agitator reach the settled material.
- Do not use in flammable or explosive atmospheres or with flammable or corrosive liquids. Do not exceed 0–40 °C, pH 5–9, 15% dry matter or 20 m submersion depth (Tsurumi Europe data).
- Isolate the power before inspection or maintenance.
Wear parts and routine checks
- Main wear parts: impeller, agitator, mechanical seals and V-ring. With long running in sandy water, the impeller gradually wears and flow drops.
- Check and change the seal-chamber oil (turbine oil ISO VG32, 160 ml) regularly. The Oil Lifter only maintains lubrication down to one third of the normal oil level, so top up promptly if the oil is low. If the oil is cloudy or contains water, have the shaft seals inspected promptly.
- Check the cable sheath and cable entry regularly for damage.
