The TSURUMI KTZ43.7 is a heavy-duty submersible dewatering pump from Tsurumi's KTZ series (officially classed as a general construction pump). It has a 100 mm (4-inch) discharge and a 3.7 kW 2-pole three-phase motor. KTZ is Tsurumi's flagship line: a cast-iron body paired with a high-chromium cast-iron impeller lets it handle muddy, sandy water in the demanding conditions of construction sites, tunnels, quarries and mines.

Selection note: the KTZ43.7 shares its 3.7 kW motor with the KTZ23.7 (50 mm) and the KTZ33.7 (80 mm), and the three trade head for flow. The KTZ23.7 reaches 36.5 m head and 450 L/min; the KTZ33.7, 29 m and 900 L/min; the KTZ43.7, 18 m and 1,440 L/min, making it the choice for high-volume, lower-head drainage. The KTZ43.7 is a non-automatic model with no built-in float or electrode control; for automatic start/stop, choose the KTZE43.7 automatic model. The standard pump is not seawater-resistant; for seawater, choose the KTZ43.7-SEA seawater-resistant version fitted with the Seawater-Resistant Kit. The KTZ is a dewatering pump, not a slurry pump, and is not suitable for dense slurry or bentonite.

Key features

Top-discharge, side-flow design: cools the motor efficiently even when it runs exposed to air, and keeps the body slim enough for confined spaces.
Multi-directional hose coupling: the discharge can be set vertical or inclined so the hose does not fold or kink.
Semi-open high-chromium cast-iron impeller: resists wear from abrasive particles; the shaft is quench-hardened where it meets particles.
Dual inside mechanical seals: silicon carbide (SiC) faces housed in the oil chamber, isolated from abrasion and corrosion. Tsurumi rates SiC at five times the corrosion, wear and heat resistance of tungsten carbide.
Tsurumi Oil Lifter: keeps the seal faces lubricated and cooled even when the oil drops to one third of the normal level.
Oil seal (dust seal): an NBR oil seal gives the mechanical seals an extra line of protection.
Built-in circle thermal protector (CTP): cuts the motor circuit directly on excessive heat or overcurrent.
Anti-wicking cable entry: stops water creeping into the motor by capillary action if the cable sheath is damaged; a cable clip guards against pulling.

Performance

The 18 m maximum head is the head at near-zero flow, and the 1,440 L/min (86.4 m³/h) maximum capacity is the end point of the performance curve. The two do not occur together: actual flow falls as total head (static head plus hose friction loss) rises. Select the pump from the performance curve using your site's total head. For higher heads, consider the KTZ45.5 (22.5 m) or the KTZ47.5 (40 m).

Safety and installation

Electrical connection must be made by a registered electrical worker in line with local regulations, with proper earthing and a motor starter that provides overload and phase protection. Check the voltage and current on the nameplate before connecting.
Check the direction of rotation after connection; if it is wrong, have an electrician swap two phases.
If the built-in thermal protector trips, find the cause of the overheating or overcurrent before running the pump again. Always isolate and lock out the power before inspection or servicing.
Lift and lower the pump by its handle or eye bolt with a chain or rope. Never lift it by the power cable, and protect the cable from pulling or cutting.
Keep the water level at or above 150 mm (W1) for continuous running and do not run the pump dry for long periods. Use a strainer and do not let the pump become buried in silt.
The standard model is not seawater-resistant. Do not pump liquids outside pH 5–9, liquids above 40 °C or flammable liquids, and do not use it in flammable or explosive atmospheres; the pump is not explosion-proof.

Wear parts and routine checks

Main wear parts: impeller, suction cover, mechanical seals and oil seal. With long running in sandy water, the impeller and suction cover gradually wear and flow drops.
Regularly check the oil level and condition in the oil chamber (turbine oil ISO VG32, 1,250 ml). If the oil is cloudy or contains water, have the shaft seals inspected promptly.
