The TSURUMI KTD33.7 is a submersible, heavy-duty cast-iron slurry pump with agitator from Tsurumi's KTD series (officially classed as a slurry pump). It has an 80 mm (3-inch) discharge and a 3.7 kW 2-pole three-phase motor. The KTD series is built on the KTZ platform with extra motor shaft-power margin for muddy water of higher specific gravity. A ductile-iron agitator on the shaft works with a dedicated strainer to lift settled solids into suspension so they are drawn in smoothly, making the pump suited to transferring or draining bentonite slurry, slurry, slime and sand-laden water on construction and foundation sites, in mines and in quarries.
Selection note: the KTD33.7 shares its base with the KTZ33.7, but the KTZ33.7 is a general construction (dewatering) pump without an agitator. For settled sediment or bentonite slurry, choose the KTD33.7; for site water carrying only a little sand and silt, consider the KTZ series. The KTD33.7 has no float or automatic operation, and passes solids up to 10 mm only, so it is not suitable for gravel or coarse aggregate.
Key features
- Agitating mechanism: a ductile-iron agitator mounted on the shaft rotates with the impeller to create a downward current. Together with the dedicated strainer, it helps the pump draw in and transfer bentonite slurry, slime, mud and water with high sand content.
- Wear-resistant hydraulics: semi-open high-chromium cast-iron impeller and ductile-iron suction cover; shaft surfaces in contact with particles are quench-hardened.
- Top-discharge, side-flow design: keeps the motor cooled even when it runs exposed to air, and gives a slim body for confined spaces.
- Dual inside mechanical seals: silicon carbide on silicon carbide faces on both the upper and lower seals, running in an oil chamber with Tsurumi's Oil Lifter. An NBR lip seal acts as a dust seal that shields the mechanical seal from abrasive particles.
- Built-in circle thermal protector (CTP): cuts the motor circuit directly on overheating or overcurrent.
- Anti-wicking cable entry: with strain relief and a cable clip, limiting water creeping along the cable cores into the motor.
- Continuous-duty dry motor: 2-pole induction motor, insulation class F, IP68, with permanently lubricated, double-shielded deep-groove C3 ball bearings.

- Construction and foundation works: transferring or draining bentonite slurry and muddy excavation water
- Mines and quarries: pumping out water laden with mud and sand
- Settled sediment: removing slurry and silt that has settled in sumps and tanks
Pumped liquid: water containing sand, mud and slurry, at 0–40 °C. Not for seawater, corrosive or chemical liquids, oils and solvents, flammable liquids, or liquids above 40 °C.
Performance
The 22.0 m maximum head is the head at near-zero flow, and the 795 L/min (about 0.8 m³/min) maximum capacity is the end point of the 50 Hz performance curve, at roughly 1.5 m head. The two do not occur together: actual flow falls as total head (static head plus hose friction loss) rises, and drops further as slurry density increases. Select the pump from the official performance curve using your site's total head. For lower flow duties, consider the smaller KTD22.2 (50 mm, 2.2 kW).

Optional accessories
- Male threaded coupling (official option) in place of the standard hose coupling.
- High-temperature liquid version (up to 60 °C), an official special specification made to order; the standard model is limited to 40 °C.
- Three-phase direct-on-line (DOL) starter or control panel with overload and earth-leakage protection, set to the nameplate rated current.
- Lay-flat or suction-rated hose sized for the 80 mm discharge.
Safety and installation
- Connect only to a three-phase supply at an officially rated voltage, and earth the pump through the cable earth conductor. Electrical work must be carried out by a registered electrical worker in line with local regulations.
- Check the rotation direction before first use. Wrong rotation reduces performance; have an electrician swap two phases to correct it.
- If the built-in thermal protector trips, isolate the power, let the motor cool and remove the cause of the overheating or overcurrent before restarting.
- Keep the water at or above the continuous running water level (C.W.L.) shown on the official drawing and avoid prolonged dry running. Do not exceed 25 m submersion depth.
- Lift and lower the pump by its handle with a rope or chain, never by the power cable, and protect the cable from tugging and damage.
- Isolate the power before inspecting, cleaning the strainer or agitator, or changing the oil; the agitator and impeller rotate with the shaft.
- Not for flammable or explosive atmospheres or liquids, and not for potable water or food use.
Wear parts and routine checks
- Main wear parts: impeller, agitator, suction cover, mechanical seals and oil seal. Long-term slurry pumping gradually wears these parts and flow drops.
- Check the oil in the oil chamber regularly. Milky or contaminated oil indicates seal wear; have the seals inspected and refill with 1,250 ml of ISO VG32 turbine oil.
- Clear settled sand and mud from around the strainer and agitator regularly, and check the cable sheath for damage.
