The TSURUMI HSZ2.4S 110V is the automatic version of Tsurumi's HS-series portable dewatering pump: a single-phase submersible pump, supplied here in its single-phase 110V 50 Hz version for use with a site 110V isolating transformer. It has a 50 mm (2-inch) discharge and a 0.4 kW 2-pole capacitor-run motor, and comes with a float switch already fitted. The pump starts when the water rises to the set level and stops when it falls back, which cuts dry running, saves power and extends service life.
A urethane rubber semi-vortex impeller and a sintered-alloy agitator pass solids up to 7 mm, and the wear-prone parts use abrasion-resistant materials that Tsurumi says give durability comparable to its three-phase drainage pumps. At 11.3 kg (excluding cable) it is easy to carry between jobs, making it a practical choice for temporary or standby drainage on construction sites, in basements and in sumps.
Selection note: the HSZ2.4S is a dewatering pump, not a sewage pump, and is not suitable for raw sewage or liquids containing fibrous material. If you want manual on/off control without a float, choose the HS2.4S 110V. If no 110V supply is available on site, choose the non-110V HSZ2.4S. To pump down to a residual level of 1 mm, consider the HSR2.4S residue drainage pump.
Key features
- Automatic float-switch operation: a single float switch starts and stops the pump, so no one needs to watch it, and dry running and wasted power are reduced. Performance is identical to the manual HS2.4S.
- Agitator prevents air lock: the shaft-mounted sintered-alloy agitator prevents the air lock that tends to occur in vortex and semi-vortex pumps.
- Side discharge with spiral casing: the external side discharge and spiral pump casing let solids pass through more smoothly.
- Dual inside mechanical seals: silicon carbide (SiC) faces running in an oil chamber, with Tsurumi's Oil Lifter keeping the seal faces lubricated and cooled down to about 1/3 of the normal oil level.
- Built-in miniature thermal protector (MTP): detects excess motor heat and protects against overheating and dry running.
- Anti-wicking cable entry and cable clip: stops water creeping into the motor by capillary action if the sheath is damaged or the cable end is submerged, and prevents condensation inside the motor housing. The clip protects the cable against tugging.
- Resin stand: prevents scratching of the floor.

Performance
The 12 m maximum head is the head at near-zero flow, and the 200 L/min (about 12 m³/h) maximum capacity is the end point of the performance curve (50 Hz). The two do not occur together: actual flow falls as total head (static head plus hose friction loss) rises, so select the pump from the performance curve using your site's total head. Safety and installation
- Connect this pump to a single-phase 110V 50 Hz supply only. Never connect it directly to 220V mains. Electrical connection should be made by a registered electrical worker with a proper earth, and an earth-leakage (RCD) protected supply is recommended.
- Carry and position the pump by its handle. Never pull or lift it by the cable. A damaged cable must be repaired or replaced before use.
- Allow at least 340 mm of clear space (F) so the float can move freely without catching on the cable, hose or pit wall.
- The built-in thermal protector is a safeguard only. Do not rely on it in place of level control or run the pump dry for long periods. If it trips, isolate the power and find the cause.
- Stand the pump on firm ground or a platform so it does not sink into silt.
- The standard model is not seawater- or corrosion-resistant. Do not pump seawater, flammable or corrosive liquids or hot liquids, and do not use it in flammable or explosive atmospheres.
Wear parts and routine checks
- Main wear parts: impeller, agitator and mechanical seals. With long running in sandy water the impeller gradually wears and flow drops.
- Always isolate the power before inspection or servicing. Check and change the seal-chamber oil (turbine oil ISO VG32, 160 ml) periodically; if the oil is cloudy or contains water, have the shaft seals inspected promptly. The Oil Lifter maintains lubrication only down to about 1/3 of the oil level and does not replace regular oil changes.
- Keep the float and its surroundings clear of debris and check that the float switch operates correctly.
