The TSURUMI LSCE1.4S is the electrode-type automatic model in Tsurumi's LSC/LSCE residue drainage pump series: a submersible, single-phase, portable pump with a 25 mm discharge and a 0.48 kW capacitor-run motor. A liquid-level relay unit (high-sensitivity electrodes plus a timer) is mounted on the pump, so it starts when water reaches the electrodes and stops once the water has been drawn down. Its special base plate pumps water down to about 1 mm, making it well suited to clearing residual and floor water on site floors, in basements and in tanks.
Selection note: the LSCE1.4S shares its pump end and performance curve with the manual LSC1.4S; the difference is the electrode automatic control. If the pump will be attended and switched by hand, the LSC1.4S is the simpler choice. If you need the pump to sit out of the water and draw through a suction hose, choose the self-priming LSP1.4S. The LSCE1.4S is not self-priming, and its casing must be wet before it will start pumping.
Key features
- Electrode automatic operation: the pump starts when the water rises to cover both electrodes. When the water level falls away from the electrodes, the timer keeps the pump running for about one more minute before stopping it, which prevents false switching caused by ripples and reduces the noise of running without water. Start level is approx. 85 mm.
- Pumps down to about 1 mm: the special base plate lets it remove a thin film of water from the floor.
- Anti-backflow check valve: a built-in valve seat and swing check valve stop pumped water from flowing back when the pump stops.
- Rubber-lined base: protects the floor surface.
- Adjustable discharge direction: vertical or angled discharge, switched with a spanner, to keep the discharge hose from kinking.
- Flow-thru top-discharge design: pumped water flows around the motor to force-cool it, allowing long continuous running at low water levels and improving dry-running endurance.
- Double inside mechanical seals: silicon carbide (SiC) faces housed in the oil chamber. Tsurumi states that SiC offers five times the corrosion, wear and heat resistance of tungsten carbide. Tsurumi's original Oil Lifter keeps the seal faces lubricated and cooled even when the oil drops to one third of its normal level.
- Anti-wicking cable entry and V-ring: limits water creeping along the cable cores into the motor, with a V-ring as a dust seal.
- Built-in motor protector: cuts power automatically on overheating or overload.
- Light and wear-resistant: synthetic rubber pump casing, water-resistant urethane rubber impeller and die-cast aluminium motor frame; about 12.6 kg excluding cable.

- Construction sites: floor water and wash-down water on slabs
- Basements and car parks: clearing floor water and low spots
- Tanks and pools: removing residual water after emptying
- Unattended locations: automatic drainage whenever the water level rises
For clean-water duty only (wash-down water, floor water and standing water) at 0–40 °C. Not suitable for slurry, sludge, sandy mixtures, seawater, brine, oil, chemicals or organic solvents.
Performance
The maximum head of 11 m (50 Hz) / 12 m (60 Hz) is the head at near-zero flow. The official performance curve ends at about 0.17 m³/min (about 10 m³/h) at roughly 1.5 m of head; this is a value read from the curve, and Tsurumi does not publish a rated maximum capacity for the LSC/LSCE models. Actual flow falls as total head (static head plus hose friction loss) rises, so select the pump from the performance curve using your site's total head. The curve was measured with the pump suspended and no restriction at the suction.

Optional accessories
- A dedicated hose band, required if a suction hose is used.

- Extended cable on request. Any extension cable must have a conductor cross-section no smaller than the original cable.
Safety and installation
- Earth the pump properly and use it with an earth-leakage circuit breaker. Never connect the earth wire to a gas pipe, water pipe, lightning rod or telephone earth.
- Supply voltage must be within ±10% of the nameplate rating and the frequency must match the nameplate. When running from a generator, avoid connecting other equipment to it at the same time.
- The LSCE1.4S starts automatically when the electrodes are wetted. Switch off and unplug the pump before any inspection or servicing. Do not stand near the pump while it is running, to avoid electric shock from leakage.
- Never lift or drag the pump by its cable; use the handle. Do not kink or sharply bend the cable, do not submerge a damaged cable, and keep cable joints and the plug dry.
- Before first start, pour about 2.5 L of clean water in through the discharge port to prime it; the pump will not deliver water until the casing is wet.
- Do not run the pump dry or against a closed valve. If the motor protector trips, find and clear the cause before restarting.
- The pump body is hot during and just after operation; avoid touching it. Beware of hot water spraying out when opening the priming plug.
- Do not use near flammable or explosive materials. This pump is not explosion-proof.
Routine checks
- Measure insulation resistance and check running current and voltage monthly.
- Change the lubricating oil periodically and inspect the swing check valve.
- Overhaul every 2–5 years. Mechanical seal replacement must be carried out by the agent.
- Product data may change with improvements; ask the agent for the factory specification sheet before final selection.
