The TSURUMI 80NHC23.7 is a submersible non-clogging cutter pump from the NHC series of Tsurumi's TSURUMI UNIVERSE brand. It has an 80 mm discharge and a 3.7 kW 2-pole three-phase motor (3000 min⁻¹ at 50 Hz). The NHC series is built for raw sewage, wastewater and heavy-duty industrial duty where oversize material would otherwise clog the pump. Two sintered tungsten carbide alloy edges are brazed onto the impeller vanes and rotate against the serrated suction port of the suction cover, cutting incoming fibrous material into pieces so they do not block discharge pipes or valves.
The casing and motor frame are grey cast iron, the suction cover is ductile cast iron and the shaft is 420 stainless steel. The continuous-duty, dry-type induction motor has class H insulation and a built-in circle thermal protector (CTP). This listing is the free-standing version, with a threaded JIS 10kg/cm² flange discharge.
Selection note: the 80NHC23.7 is a cutter sewage pump, not a slurry pump, and is not suitable for sand-laden slurry or construction-site mud. Among the 80 mm models, the 80NHC23.0 is the low-head, high-flow option (about 16.7 m shut-off head, curve ending at about 1.25 m³/min), while the 80NHC23.7 delivers more head (about 28 m shut-off). If you need more head at lower flow, consider the 3.7 kW, 50 mm 50NHC23.7 (about 31.5–32 m shut-off head).

Performance
On the official 50 Hz performance curve, the 80NHC23.7 reaches a maximum head of about 28 m, which is the head at near-zero flow. The curve ends at about 1.0 m³/min (about 60 m³/h) at roughly 7 m total head. The two never occur together: flow falls as total head (static head plus pipe friction loss) rises, so select the pump from the curve using your actual total head. These figures are read from the official curve and are approximate, not guaranteed duty points. Tsurumi also advises against continuous operation along the dashed (low-flow) section of the curve.

Optional accessories
- Guide rail fitting system (TOS): order the TOS80NHC23.7 guide rail version. The set includes a duckfoot bend, guide support (with bolts and nuts), guide hook, 5 m lifting chain with shackles and a JIS 10kg/cm² flange. The guide pipe is not supplied and must be sourced locally.
- Float switches (level sensors): the MC-2 heavy-duty float switch has a shock absorber for liquids with heavy suspended solids and scum, with selectable NO or NC contact; the MT-1 economy teardrop float switch suits scum-laden wastewater, with an SPDT contact for filling or emptying control.
- Control panel: three-phase pumps must be connected through a control panel with overload and short-circuit protection.
- Lubricant: turbine oil ISO VG32 (oil chamber capacity 1,300 ml on this model).
Discharge pipe flanges and fittings must match JIS 10K.
Safety and installation
- Three-phase wiring must be carried out by a registered electrical worker in line with local regulations, with proper earthing and overload and short-circuit protection. Check the direction of rotation before first use.
- Lift the pump by its handle or a lifting chain, never by the power cable (free-standing dry weight 67 kg).
- Isolate and lock out the power before inspecting or clearing the suction cover. The tungsten carbide edges and serrated suction cover are sharp, so wear protective gloves.
- Do not run the pump continuously on the dashed (low-flow) section of the performance curve.
- No explosion-proof rating is published; do not use the pump in flammable or explosive atmospheres.
- Sewage sumps are confined spaces with hydrogen sulphide and oxygen-deficiency hazards. A guide rail installation lets the pump be lifted out for service without entering the sump.
- Obtain the factory specification sheet from your supplier before use; Tsurumi notes that website and catalogue specifications may change without notice.
Wear parts and routine checks
- The Oil Lifter keeps the seals lubricated only until the oil falls to about one third of normal, so check the oil level and condition regularly. If the oil is cloudy or contains water, have the mechanical seals inspected promptly.
- General maintenance advice: inspect the impeller cutting edges and the serrated part of the suction cover for wear, as wear reduces cutting performance and flow.
