Product Overview

The WORX WU980 is a 220V mains-powered 100mm (4") industrial brushless angle grinder rated at 1050W with a rated speed of 12000rpm. It accepts 100mm wheels with a 16mm bore and uses an M10 spindle thread. The tool features a side-mounted switch and a slim body with a grip circumference of just 177mm for secure single-hand control, while the 1.35kg body weight (excluding the side handle and power cord) reduces fatigue during long or overhead work. Its brushless motor uses a surface-mounted magnet design that places the permanent magnets evenly on the rotor surface for higher magnetic flux and greater power density, delivering stronger output with less wear and no brush maintenance. The WU980 suits weld-seam grinding, casting cleaning, deburring and cutting on metal fabrication work such as chemical plant equipment, pressure vessels, boilers, pipework and valves.

Safety is central to the WU980. Restart protection prevents the motor from starting again by itself once power is restored after an unexpected power cut, greatly reducing the risk of a runaway disc. Disc-burst protection stops the tool the moment current spikes when the wheel meets hard material, lowering the chance of a cutting disc shattering. Together with over-temperature and stall protection and the large-channel cooling duct, the tool stays reliable through sustained heavy-duty work.
