Product Overview

The WORX WD384.9 is the bare-tool version of the 40V brushless cordless chainsaw. Built on the WORX Power Share platform, it runs two 20V lithium-ion batteries in series for 40V output and drives a 16-inch (40cm) one-piece cast guide bar with a high-temperature hardened chain at a chain speed of 18m/s, making it suitable for garden pruning, felling and cutting firewood. The brushless motor delivers higher efficiency with less wear, lower power consumption, smoother running and lower noise, and removes the need for carbon-brush maintenance. A 160ml oil tank with automatic oiling continuously lubricates the chain to reduce cutting resistance and extend bar and chain life, with an oil-level sight window on the side. The tool weighs about 4.5kg and features front and rear handles, a rear hand guard and a bumper spike for controlled, stable cutting.

For safety, the WD384.9 uses a two-stage protection system: a safety switch on the rear handle must be pressed before the tool will start, preventing accidental operation, while the front chain-brake lever (hand guard) provides an instant emergency stop. Chain tension is set with a one-touch automatic tensioner, so the bar and chain can be adjusted or changed without tools. This model is the bare tool and does not include a battery or charger, making it the right choice for users already on the WORX 20V battery platform who want to add the tool only.

Manufacturer reference cutting data (tested with two 4.0Ah batteries, sold separately): approximately 4.51s to cut through a 15cm log, 9.24s for 20cm and 12.5s for 25cm; about 62 cuts on 15cm logs, 24 cuts on 20cm and 17 cuts on 25cm per full charge. Actual results vary with timber species, moisture content, chain condition and the battery capacity fitted.
