The TSURUMI FAMILY-12 (110V) is a domestic pump from Tsurumi's FAMILY series (officially listed under submersible pumps > portable dewatering pumps): a single-phase, portable submersible drainage pump. This listing is the single-phase 110V supply version. It has a 0.1 kW 2-pole motor and a resin body, and weighs just 3.4 kg dry (excluding cable). A 25 mm hose coupling is fitted as standard, and an easy-to-attach 15 mm hose coupling comes as a standard accessory, so you can use whichever hose size you have. It is intended for draining clear or lightly dirty standing water in homes and light-industrial premises.
Selection note: "110V" is Jaco's supply-version label, not an official Tsurumi model suffix; confirm the actual voltage and frequency on the nameplate. Standard Hong Kong mains is 220V/50Hz, so this 110V version must not be plugged directly into ordinary sockets. It needs a 110V supply, such as a 110V transformer. For ordinary mains, choose the standard FAMILY-12 (voltage as per nameplate). The FAMILY-12 has no level control and is switched on and off by hand. For automatic start/stop by water level, choose the FAMILY-12A (110V) with its built-in float switch.
Key features
- Top-discharge, flow-thru design: keeps the motor cooled even when it is partly exposed to air, and gives a slim body that fits into confined spaces.
- Residue drainage: drains standing water down to about 12 mm as standard. With the optional residue adapter fitted, it drains down to about 1 mm on fully flat, smooth ground (the adapter is for the FAMILY-12 standard model only).
- 15 mm and 25 mm hose couplings: 25 mm fitted as standard, with a 15 mm coupling supplied.
- Built-in miniature thermal protector (MTP): detects motor overheating and protects against overheating and dry-running damage.
- Anti-wicking cable entry: stops water creeping into the motor by capillary action if the cable sheath is damaged or the cable end is submerged, and keeps moist air and condensation out of the motor housing.
- Silicon carbide inside mechanical seal: a single inside mechanical seal with silicon carbide (SiC) faces, isolated in the oil chamber. Tsurumi quotes silicon carbide as having about 5 times the corrosion, wear and heat resistance of tungsten carbide.
- Light and portable: 3.4 kg dry weight and a 157 mm body diameter, easy for one person to carry and store.

- Homes: removing standing water, leaks and post-flood water
- Flat-floor residue: with the optional residue adapter, drains smooth floors down to about 1 mm
- Light-industrial premises: temporary drainage of small amounts of standing water

This pump is for clear or lightly dirty water only. It is not suitable for slurry, sandy water, sewage or liquids with a high solids content. Tsurumi UK advises that the FAMILY is not recommended for ponds or water features.
Performance
Maximum head is the head at zero flow, and maximum capacity is the end point of the performance curve (at 0 m head). The two do not occur together: actual flow falls as total head (static head plus hose friction loss) rises. From Tsurumi's performance curves, the maximum head is 6 m at 50Hz with a maximum capacity of about 0.08 m³/min (about 80 L/min), and 7 m at 60Hz with a maximum capacity of about 0.08 m³/min. Check the supply frequency of this 110V version on the nameplate and select from the matching curve. With the residue adapter fitted, maximum capacity drops to about 0.038 m³/min, and the pump must stand on fully flat, smooth ground.

Optional accessories
- Residue adapter: a rubber ring fitted to the pump casing that lets the pump drain down to about 1 mm. For the FAMILY-12 standard model only; the pump must stand on fully flat, smooth ground.
- Seawater-resistant coating: a factory option, not fitted as standard. Please enquire if you need it.
- Hose: use 15 mm or 25 mm hose to match the coupling.
Safety and installation
- Connect only to the voltage and frequency shown on the nameplate. This 110V version must not be plugged directly into Hong Kong 220V/50Hz sockets; use a correctly rated 110V supply or transformer, with earthing and residual current protection (RCD/ELCB).
- The built-in miniature thermal protector cuts out the motor on overheating or dry-running and resets once it cools, but do not rely on it for routine dry running. The FAMILY-12 has no level control, so switch it off as soon as the water has been drained and do not leave it running unattended.
- Never submerge the cable end or plug, and never lift or carry the pump by its power cable. The FAMILY has no cable clip.
- Do not pump flammable, explosive, corrosive or hot liquids. The standard model is not seawater-resistant.
- Disconnect the power before handling or cleaning the pump, or fitting the residue adapter or hose coupling.
- Obtain the delivery specification sheet before use. Tsurumi notes that website information may differ from actual product specifications.
Wear parts and routine checks
- Main wear parts: impeller and mechanical seal.
- Regularly clear debris from the suction inlet and check the cable sheath for damage.
- If capacity drops noticeably, or the oil in the oil chamber is cloudy or contains water, have the impeller and shaft seal inspected promptly.
