The TSURUMI FAMILY-12A is the automatic model (officially marked -Automatic-) of Tsurumi's FAMILY domestic pump series: a single-phase portable submersible drainage pump with a 0.1 kW capacitor-run motor. A cylindrical float switch on the pump body starts the pump when the water rises to a preset level and stops it when the water falls to the stop level, so it can run unattended while cutting power consumption and extending service life. This listing is the single-phase 110V version supplied by Jaco.
The discharge uses a hose coupling: alongside the 25 mm coupling, an easy-to-attach 15 mm hose coupling is supplied as a standard accessory, so the pump connects to common household hoses. With top discharge and a dry weight of just 3.6 kg, it is designed for household drainage.
Selection note: Hong Kong mains is 220V/50Hz. This 110V version must not be plugged straight into a standard socket and needs a 110V supply, such as a correctly rated step-down transformer. For a standard supply, consider the non-110V FAMILY-12A (check the nameplate voltage before buying). Also note that the optional residue adapter (drains down to about 1 mm) fits only the manual standard model FAMILY-12, not the automatic FAMILY-12A. If you need to drain floor water down to a thin film, choose the FAMILY-12 (110V).

The FAMILY series is positioned as a domestic pump for clear or lightly dirty water. Tsurumi's catalogue gives no solids-passage rating, so it is not suitable for slurry, sand, sewage or liquids with heavy debris, and Tsurumi UK does not recommend it for ponds or water features.
Performance
The FAMILY-12A performs identically to the manual FAMILY-12. From Tsurumi's published curves, at 50 Hz the maximum head is about 6 m and the maximum capacity about 0.08 m³/min (about 80 L/min); at 60 Hz the maximum head is about 7 m with a maximum capacity of about 0.08 m³/min. Maximum head is the head at zero flow, and maximum capacity is the end point of the curve at zero head, so the two never occur together: actual flow falls as total head (static head plus hose friction loss) rises. Which curve applies to this 110V version depends on the supply frequency shown on its nameplate.

Optional accessories

Safety and installation
- Connect only to the voltage and frequency on the nameplate. Never plug this 110V version straight into a Hong Kong 220V/50Hz socket; use a correctly rated 110V supply or transformer.
- Use a properly earthed supply protected by a residual current device (RCD/ELCB).
- The built-in motor protector cuts out on overheating or dry running and resets once the motor cools. Do not rely on it as a routine way of stopping the pump.
- Keep the float clear of debris so it can move freely between the start level (about 164 mm) and stop level (about 54 mm).
- Never lift or carry the pump by its cable, and keep the cable end and plug out of the water. This series has no cable clip.
- Do not pump flammable, explosive, corrosive or hot liquids. Without the optional coating it is not suitable for seawater. This is not a drinking-water pump.
- Disconnect the power before handling, cleaning or changing the hose coupling.
- Tsurumi notes that website information may differ from actual product specifications; always check the delivery specification and nameplate before use.
Wear parts and routine checks
- Check the cable sheath regularly. If it is damaged, stop using the pump and have the cable replaced.
- Clear debris from the suction inlet and around the float so automatic start and stop keep working.
- If flow drops noticeably or the pump sounds abnormal, stop it and have the agent inspect the impeller and mechanical seal.
