The TSURUMI 80BA21.5 is the automatic-type version of Tsurumi's B-series submersible non-clog sewage pump (channel impeller). The "A" in the model code is Tsurumi's designation for automatic operation. It has an 80 mm discharge and a 1.5 kW 2-pole three-phase dry-type submersible motor. The B series uses an anti-clogging channel impeller designed to pump sewage, wastewater and liquids containing solids while minimising trouble from clogged solids and fibrous matter.
The 80BA21.5 is a Tsurumi Japan domestic model. It is not listed by Tsurumi Hong Kong, in Tsurumi's global B-series catalogue (IA100) or by Tsurumi Europe. Please confirm the automatic-operation configuration, start and stop levels, supply voltage and cable specification with the supplier before ordering; the nameplate prevails.
Selection note: Tsurumi Japan states that the automatic and non-automatic types have identical performance, so the 80BA21.5 differs from the non-automatic 80B21.5 only in how it is operated. If the pump will be started and stopped by an external float switch and control panel, choose the 80B21.5.
Key features
- Anti-clogging channel impeller: a grey cast-iron non-clog impeller lets solids pass through with the flow, reducing blockages.
- Double mechanical seals: silicon carbide (SiC) faces running in an oil chamber, with Tsurumi's Oil Lifter to keep the seals lubricated even when the oil level drops.
- Built-in circle thermal protector (CTP): cuts the motor circuit directly on overheating or overcurrent.
- Anti-wicking cable entry: stops water creeping into the motor along a damaged or submerged cable and limits condensation inside the motor.

- Optional guide-rail installation: Tsurumi offers a guide-rail version, TOS80BA21.5, so the pump can be lifted out of the sump for servicing without anyone entering the pit.

Performance
Tsurumi Japan states that the 80BA21.5 performs identically to the non-automatic 80B21.5. Based on Tsurumi Europe's 50 Hz data for the 80B21.5, the 16.9 m maximum head is the head at near-zero flow, and the 1,000 L/min (about 60 m³/h) maximum capacity is the end point of the performance curve. The two do not occur together: actual flow falls as total head (static head plus pipe friction loss) rises. Select the pump from the 50 Hz performance curve using your site's total head. Hong Kong mains run at 50 Hz, so do not use 60 Hz performance figures.

Optional accessories
- Guide-rail fitting system (TOS80BA21.5): includes the guide-rail discharge bend, guide support, guide hook and a 5 m lifting chain with shackles; guide pipes and foundation bolts are not supplied. Ask the supplier about availability in Hong Kong.
- Control panel: three-phase pumps must be connected through a control panel with overload and earth-leakage protection.
- Pipe flange: the guide-rail version uses a JIS 10K flange, so specify a matching JIS 10K mating flange.
Safety and installation
- Wiring and installation must be carried out by a registered electrical worker in line with local regulations. Earth the pump correctly and fit overload and earth-leakage protection in the control panel.
- On three-phase pumps, check the direction of rotation before putting the pump into service.
- An automatic-type pump starts by itself as the water level rises, and the motor also restarts automatically once it cools after the CTP trips. Always isolate the power before inspection or servicing.
- Keep the water at or above the minimum running level and avoid prolonged dry running.
- Lift the pump by its handle or lifting chain. Never lift it by the power cable.
- Never let the cable end be submerged, and never cut or damage the cable sheath.
- Follow confined-space and toxic-gas (e.g. hydrogen sulphide) precautions when working in sewage pits. A guide-rail installation lets the pump be lifted out for servicing without entering the pit.
- The standard model is not suitable for seawater, flammable, explosive or strongly corrosive liquids, or for liquids above 40 °C.
Wear parts and routine checks
- Main wear parts: impeller, suction cover, mechanical seals and oil seal.
- Check the oil condition in the oil chamber regularly and replace the turbine oil (ISO VG32). If the oil is cloudy or contains water, have the shaft seals inspected promptly.
- Regularly confirm that the pump starts and stops automatically at the intended water levels.
