The TSURUMI 50B2.4 is the smallest three-phase model in Tsurumi's B series of submersible non-clog sewage pumps (channel impeller). It has a 50 mm discharge and a 0.4 kW 2-pole three-phase dry-type induction motor. The B series is Tsurumi's basic heavy-duty submersible sewage and wastewater pump, and its anti-clogging channel impeller is designed to minimise trouble from solids and fibrous matter. Typical duties are building sewage and wastewater sumps, industrial effluent and water treatment plants.

The 50B2.4 has a grey cast-iron body with a ductile-iron suction cover and weighs only 23 kg dry. It can stand freely on the sump floor or be installed on a TOS50B2.4 guide rail fitting, so it can be lifted out for service without anyone entering the sump.

Selection note: the 50B2.4 is a three-phase pump and must be connected through a control panel. Where only single-phase power is available, choose the 50B2.4S, which shares the same performance curve. The B series is a sewage pump, not a slurry pump, and is not suitable for dense sand slurry or settled sludge.

Key features

Anti-clogging channel impeller: a semi-open single-channel impeller that "pumps solids like liquids" and minimises clogging by solids and fibrous matter.
Dual inside mechanical seals: silicon carbide (SiC) faces running in an oil chamber, with Tsurumi's original Oil Lifter, which keeps the seal faces lubricated and cooled down to about one third of the normal oil level.
Built-in circle thermal protector (CTP): directly cuts the motor circuit on overheating or overcurrent.
Anti-wicking cable entry: stops water creeping along the cable by capillary action if the sheath is damaged or the cable end is submerged, and limits condensation inside the motor.
Continuous-duty dry motor: 2-pole induction motor, IP68, insulation class E.
Light and easy to install: 23 kg dry weight, free-standing or on a Tsurumi TOS guide rail fitting.

Performance

The 9 m maximum head is the head at near-zero flow, and the 263 L/min (about 15.8 m³/h) maximum capacity is the end point of the 50 Hz performance curve. The two do not occur together: actual flow falls as total head (static head plus pipe and hose friction loss) rises. Select the pump from the performance curve using your site's total head. For more head or flow, consider the 50B2.75 (12 m) or the high-head 50B2.75H (15.2 m).

Float switches: MC-2 heavy-duty float switch (with shock absorber, NO or NC contact, for liquids with suspended solids and scum) or MT-1 economy teardrop float switch with integrated counterweight (SPDT, for emptying or filling control). Use with an external control panel.
Control panel: three-phase pumps must be connected through an external control panel with overload protection and phase/rotation checks.
Discharge connection: threaded oval flange on the free-standing unit, JIS 10K flange on the guide rail version. Specify pipe or hose fittings to suit.

Safety and installation

Installation and wiring must be carried out by a registered electrical worker in line with local regulations. Earth the pump correctly and fit overload and earth-leakage protection in the control panel.
Check the three-phase rotation before first use. If it is wrong, have an electrician swap two phases.
The built-in CTP cuts the motor on overheating or overcurrent, and the pump may restart once it cools. Always isolate the power before inspection or servicing.
Keep the liquid at or above the 140 mm lowest running level and avoid prolonged dry running.
Use only for sewage and wastewater at 0–40 °C and pH 5–9. Do not pump flammable, explosive or strongly corrosive liquids, or liquids above 40 °C. The standard model is not seawater-resistant.
Lift the pump by its handle with a chain or rope. Never lift it by the power cable.
Never let the cable end be submerged and never cut or damage the cable sheath. The anti-wicking cable entry is a safeguard, not a substitute for correct wiring.
Do not touch the pump or put hands near the suction while it is energised. In sewage sumps, follow confined-space and toxic gas (H2S) precautions; a guide rail installation reduces the need to enter the sump.

Wear parts and routine checks

Main wear parts: impeller, suction cover, mechanical seals and oil seal.
Check and change the oil periodically (turbine oil ISO VG32, 180 ml) to protect the mechanical seals. If the oil is cloudy or contains water, have the shaft seals inspected promptly.
Regularly check the impeller for wrapped debris or wear, and the clearance between impeller and suction cover; excessive clearance reduces flow.
